This is essentially early feminism. The poem is about a feminine deity talking about the double standards the patriarchy puts on women. A mother & daughter to everyone. Pure yet a whore. Told to say nothing but yet has a lot to say (told to be silent among silent people). A servant to her husband and gets her power from him. A barbarian among barbarians. A barbarian being someone who doesn't follow Greek culture, but the woman speaking doesn't even follow the culture of the barbarian. Aka someone who follows no standards for that time.
