Some translation is completely inaccurate and incorrect. The woman in the background says in Urdu wind up the interview quickly as her baby is crying. The reporter completely changed it and said we had to cut it short because her husband was coming home soon. Very unprofessional

This video is misleading as it insinuates that Pakistanis think of Talibans as their enemies or are afraid of them , its not true in 2024 , this video was shot in 2016 which was around when Talibans attacked APS and most people started hating them all of a sudden . But in 2024 things are a lot different , most of Pakistanis even Pakistanis that are not Pashtoons support Talibans and think of them as Heroes.

There are also Kurdish young women fighting to keep sovereignty of their part of Northern Iraq 'Kurdistan'. The documentary I saw showed the way women are treated there in a very poor light. Their quality of life was much better in the army than if they stayed in the family home or got married. They do not have Purdah, but do have great disrespect from males towards females and it can only mean being treated worse than animals, in marriage.

Only Islam gives full rights to women nothing else can give more than Islam . Islam says about pardah . So we will follow it . Whether we are compelled or targeted . Western countries and Europe talk about human rights and women rights, than why they are genociding in Israel , killing women and children. And I will also remember , what the army did with women in World War 1 and 2. And what western did With women in war of terror in Afghanistan ,Iraq, Syria, Yaman Algazyre and Libia. There is a city called "Sawat" which I visited decades ago. Beautiful and friendliest people I met. I remember reading that terrorists took over the city and it took their army to go and clear it out. These terrorists seem to go to places which brings in tourist money. It really cheeses me off when people use part of their religion to force people. From my understanding is that it is woman's choice to wear hijab/purdah. My friends have sisters and aunts who are independent and have jobs. They don't wear hijab/purdah and make sure that they are respected among their male colleagues. We Christians aren't any better. One can not have a successful and thriving country without the contribution of women. So well done ladies for standing up for your country.

We suffered the menace in (2008-2010) as well. Now that i look at it, it was done to get money from the US. Script was “taliban will get the nuclear assets of Pakistan” Americans are partners in this crime and shows you one side of the story.

By the way the lady who gave the conclusion statement is entirely wrong by saying that “all of the women we filmed were taking a risk simply by speaking to us” Seriously?? All except one of those women come from families who fathers, brothers and husbands let them be in these high positions. The people suffering are not only women but entire families who are displaced because of being refugees. That is why the interviewer was at the ‘Community center for displaced people’ The woman who was wearing the shuttlecock burqa was complaining about the Taliban not about her husband. She was complaining about not being able to work in the fields anymore. And in the end she had to go because her children were crying. The interviewer also seemed to assume that just practicing purdah means that the women are being oppressed, keep in mind that there are thousands who cover simply because they feel a spiritual connection to their God and therefore abide by the religious laws. I have seen and met women who are doctors and scholars and computer science graduates who are completely covered. The problem is political. In this case it is when a small group uses violent war tactics to cause problems within a country. The main intention is to destabilize the country. The media is then used to spread lies and to very conveniently change the narrative.

What makes us think, he supposes, that they have any desire to interact with our comparably primitive societies and governments as equals in any way? Islam doe snot accept any other religion or ideas, or liberal, open, equality based values. On one hand you are accepting ISLAM . but you are against the , values, culture, practices, tenets dictated by ISLAM/QURAN. It will not work. First of all the reporter didn't say that the interview was stopped becos the husband was coming home. She said the women who were giving the interview had to go becos she didn't tell her husband that she was giving an interview and its time for her husband to come. The interviewer didn't translate what the women in the background said, she explained the situation why the women had to go, the situation which was probably previously explained to her behind the camera.

Pakistan's problem is neither the Religion nor the Talibans, but the Government. The successive govts have never taken any small step to have religion and government seperate. If you are a declared religious state, you can only expect regressive practices in the name of religion.

  • @sanataj

How irreversible is that? is it part of their constitution? I do notice that religious governments do not do well across the world. I believe, like you, that the separation of religion and State (government) is essential. Even in England we tried a religious republic once and the government went towards fundamental Christianity. We had to restore the monarchy to the throne after a few years. But how many Muslim countries back-slide and rush back to Islam for their government, after trying to introduce a secular democracy? Are there any that succeed in keeping it secular and also have human rights, free speech, a decent economy and wages, good working conditions, low corruption and high justice etc? Are there any where equality for women is not sacrificed to the ego of men?

People vomiting on the streets. The most amount of mental drugs are sold in USA! And then the so called secular countries have bombed around the world and killed innocent women and children the most! Stop lecturing people. If they need change their people will do it.

@@augustopinochet3830 yeah, please don't condense 240 million people into a monolith. The truth is you know next to nothing about Pakistan. Women in Pakistan's largest cities such as Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad also follow the religion of Islam, but the overwhelming majority of them show their faces, and in uptown areas they commonly show their hair, because in the civilized areas of Pakistan, the only judgemental morons are uneducated migrants from rural areas. Classism in Pakistan is next-level, and you cannot blame the middle and upper classes for looking down upon a radicalised, illiterate peasantry who cry victim whenever their backwards, terrorist-producing villages are bombed by the country's air force. From what I've seen, the number of women in Pakistan who wear burqas is around the same as the number of Pakistani women who do not cover their hair. The burqa is cultural attire worn by Pashtun women in Pakistan. The word "burqa" literally comes from the Pashto language, but many people still assume that the burqa is Arabic (they must be getting mixed up with the boshiya). It's important to note that Pashtuns only account for 15% of Pakistan's population and in this case the documentary was filmed in FATA, an ultra-conservative strip of land inside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. That's the equivalent of judging America based off of the rural areas of Arkansas. In the rest of Pakistan, most women don't wear the burqa. Most Pakistani women wear dupattas, which are basically a loose, thin, slightly translucent headscarf. Some people consider the dupatta as a hijab, others don't. There's many different interpretations.
