On an overcast December day in Half Moon Bay, California, a haunting mist shrouded the ominous jet-black rocks jutting from the churning slate gray ocean.
The wind howled as it whipped the peaked whitecaps into a frenzy.
Mark Foo emerged from the fog astride his surfboard, drifting towards an endless wall of water rushing towards the coast. The wave began to crest, rising higher and higher as if it intended to lick the sky. Mark turned and began to paddle furiously, positioning himself to catch the liquid beast. He jumped to his feet just as the wave starting barreling over him, curling into a cavernous tunnel. Little did Mark know, as he chased this wave to unfathomable heights, that today would be his last.
