    They did not have CGI on the level that they have now back in 1984, when this movie was made (for $6 Million Dollars). Stop Motion Animation is how they made the Post Arnold Terminator move around.

    Fyi, there are lots of older cars you could steal with just a hammer. I had an 84 Cadilac, and it was stolen. They shattered the steering column sleeve, then knocked off the ignition, underneath was a plastic tab, pull it back and the car started just like you were using the key. I got it back, but it would have been so expensive to fix it, that i just left it the way it was and bought The Club.

    When I was a kid, my father used to trace the ignition wires down into the dash, and wire in a hidden kill switch down in the driver's side foot well. So if you didn't know where that switch was, you were never going to get his car started.

    Back in the day, a friend of mine lost his keys to his older car, so he removed that steering column sleeve - you could just stick your thumb in the slot and start it. LOL Drove it like that for the last year or so, until it finally died completely & got hauled to the car graveyard.

    @LittleBlueOwl318 the sleeve on a lot of those cars were brittle, i dont know why, seems like it would have been more than worth the comparatively slight increase in cost to put some thin steel there, but you could hit them with a hammer and shatter them.

    They offered the part of the hero in this film to Arnie, he looked over the script and said he’d only do it if he could play the bad guy. It was a perfect casting choice.

  • @LittleBlueOwl318

    @LittleBlueOwl318

    2 ай бұрын

    They decided at the auditions that Arnie should actually play the Terminator instead, because of his physique. The Kyle character needed to be smaller, thin and wiry but muscular, like a battle weary soldier, because of where he comes from: the future war zone where food is scarce and tension is high - trying to stop HKs and Terminators daily, always fighting on every level just to survive - both then and now as he time travels. Kyle Reese vs Terminator is like David vs Goliath and the casting needed to reflect that. Arnie was the perfect Terminator & Michael Biehn was the perfect Kyle. They nailed it!

    It was a great reaction video! This was writer/director James Cameron's first movie and he made it without a big studio or big budget - just a good story and a lot of talented people early in their career. I highly recommend watching "Terminator 2" and then stopping because Terminator 2 is one of the all time best sequels of all time basically introduced modern CGI. I'd love to see you watch all of James Cameron's movies. In addition to "The Terminator", James Cameron became famous for directing "Aliens" which was the sequel "Alien" which was directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott.

    Interesting you mention you hope the war against the machines doesn’t happen where you are. Cameron wanted the Resistance to be made up largely of people from South America, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Southern Asia. It was his view that most people north of the equator would be dead after a nuclear war.
