I think surreal art is pretty interesting due to the amounts of interpretations you can give to them, take for example Yume Nikki or LCD dream simulator, there is a lot of interpretations that multiple people have had of what those games could mean, and that's part of what interests me, it gets people to talk about certain themes that might not even cross people's minds to try to make sense of those games and think in ways that could make them reconsider the way they see things.

Definitely! I don't think they are meaningless at all. It's just that in this specific case, I believe its meaning is more personal and individual, therefore, any theory I would come up with would say more about me than the art or the artist it self. Does that make sense? lol

@@FreddyDude Yeah I get what you mean, I think this type of art can really help a person to do some introspection and get them to understand themselves better due to how subjective it is.
As soon as you said that Dali was involved, I was like 'Ohh! That makes so much sense!'
I think you're valid for feeling the way you do about Freud. While he did inspire a lot of great works and his own work laid the foundation for a lot of what came after, he's a pretty controversial figure in modern psychology and phylosophy for a reason: a lot of the stuff he said and thought was more him projecting and less him pointing out some sick universal truths about human nature haha Also sick video!! It brought up a lot of memories from high school for me: studying the surrealists was a big part of my last year, and when you started talking about un Chien Andalou I was immediately taken back :D

Yeah. I've read alot more about him since this video and although I find his work super interesting I look at him more as a thinker than any kind of scientist or even psychologist. Super fascinating theories that serve as interesting thought experiments but with no real evidence supporting them. The surrealist tho, after engaging with their works more after this video, have gained more and more of my respect. Thanks for watching and engaging!
I'm glad someone remembers this game.
as always, a great video. i love that you do and don't attempt to analyze the unanalyzable. the background info and history was great too. also i really appreciate every time you reference traditional art alongside video games. i think a lot of people dismiss video games as an art form but this game seems to be a perfect nod to surrealism and looks really interesting. i'm always on the edge of my seat waiting for your next video, and i hope your channel gets the recognition it deserves soon!

Weird but interesting
I was just looking at Game Jolt and i found The Tender Cut, downloaded it and played it, tried to get as secrets as possible and i look up the name on YT for into and for letsplays (I watches Jacksepticeyes) and on google i see its based on a movie, i saw the movie and yea its even more weirder than the game. then i saw your video trying to explain what the meaning is, though i think all along that there never was any meaning, its just... THAT, a piece of surrealism with no meaning. W video
