    12:34 reminds me of one of Lifthrasir's audio logs: "While exploring the forest, I came across a sight of primal force: a beautiful stag, standing on a hill, silhouetted against the setting sun. It appeared like a messenger from some divine natural power, perhaps from Gaia herself. In such moments, we are told to avert our eyes. But what if we do not? What will we discover if we look more closely? If we could speak to the stag, what wisdom would it have to offer? None. The stag is an animal of overwhelming stupidity, driven only by fear, hunger and lust. There is no abyss for us to plunge into behind this revelation; rather, the revelation is as flat and unreal as the plywood walls of a film set."

    Its not shown here but there are some additional scenes in the ending if you complete all the golden gates puzzles (probably the ultimate true ending tbh, specifically leap of faith) There are also a lot of different small variations that can be achieved in these endings, they dont change much but its neat that some small details matter. Different Mayors can be elected, so the ending for "destroying the machine" has several variations for the mayor speach, mine was Byron. Also in the "leap of faith" ending i had an army of purple ghosts behind 1k when he was raising a tree (i guess i got it for listening to all ghost recordings in the game), leaving flowers for Trevor, etc. I personally find all endings decent, but the game clearly guides you towards "i want to know the truth" ending as least thats how i saw it. Especially judging by Athena's dialogue in Utopia/Dystopia puzzles, almost all her dialogue pointed towards embracing the 'flame' and only once she briefly mentioned that 'if they get the machine it may all end tomorrow'. So it felt heavily skewed towards getting the 'flame'. I wish they portrayed her inner conflict in a more balanced matter in these final puzzles, because listening to her lines at the end it even made me question why she didnt break the loop herself, she seemed pretty confident that we should embrace the machine/flame/theory of everything. upd. basically i meant that there were very few incentives or compelling arguments throughout the game to pick any other option than Leap of Faith, at least for me. Plus almost every character in New Jerusalem supports this trajectory except for maybe Thecla and Herman.

  • @MadsFeierskov

    @MadsFeierskov

    8 ай бұрын

    I feel like Cornelius explains it pretty well. She was broken by Miranda's death, so why would she break the loop herself - she had no real reason to go on. It's understandable to me, why Athena would argue for a certain point of view, because that was her view from the beginning. Other players might come to the conclusion that she's was wrong the whole time, and that letting nature inherit the Earth, would be the best course of action.

    makes sense, yeah. i guess i was just conditioned by other games that specifically throw different opposing ideas at the player right before they have to make the decision, but here it was super easy to make that decision for me, i agreed with Athena and Byron so it was ez pick for me. But i am glad that they left other options for players who disagree.

    Jonas Kyratzes responded to a post about the 3 endings of TTP and he gave this response on TTP2 endings: Jonas Kyratzes [developer] Oct 28 @ 4:45pm Originally posted by DeadManRunning: I have a question about the 3 endings of the game. It seems to me that the ascension/tower ending would be the logical ending to the game given the story line and in hindsight, to progress to TTP2. Was the reason the team chose not to make this the star ending based on the fact that less people would be likely to achieve this ending over tower level 5? It just follows from the story logic - ascending the Tower shows independence, whereas going for the stars shows you're more dedicated to the Simulation, at least in the way we've depicted it. The fact that more people would achieve the Tower ending wasn't the reason, it's just that it fits better aesthetically and emotionally. In Talos 2, on the other hand, pursuing the more difficult ending has a less ambiguous reward.

    As far as I can tell after I beat the game, you only get an achievement for picking one of the endings and then an achievement for getting the additional golden ending. You should be able to load back onto the save and get the other endings, but if it doesn't work you can type 4 6 4 9 7 9 9 9 on your numpad in the main menu, go to your saves, hit the new "Load Checkpoint" option and then load the Athena's Island checkpoint to get back to the ending choices.

    SPOILERS............ This game so far as I can tell, hasn't the ability to access an earlier save as was the case with TTP. You play in a single slot and that's it. The Dev's indicated they recently provided for random backups in the event your game file is corrupted. At the point which you enter the megastructure for the 4th and final time, you are given the choice to go back to complete any hidden and gold puzzles or anything else you may have missed. The objective is labeled "optional" to return to game prior to the end game. Once you pass this point, you cannot go back into the game later. There is massive 8 part puzzle at the end called Utopia/Dystopia. If you die, or even if you exit the game, there are no checkpoints and you have to restart at the beginning of this puzzle. I've solved 5 of 8, and had the solutions to 6 & 7 already in mind when I died and lost the progress. Some of us assumed this was a glitch that the progress wheels reset upon death or exit, but in a dialogue with one of the Dev's, I was told the lack of checkpoints is not a glitch, but was intentional as it was considered as one multi part puzzle, though I was also told by the same Dev that the addition of checkpoints might be a possibility in the future.

    Not just the Ending, but HOW you get the ending upsets me, along with the endings themselves, cause it is so.... Unimaginative and lazy, compared to the Themes and Writing. It literally asks, throughout the entire game, your morals and beliefs. But those choices mean NOTHING. Cause you get to the end of the game and... 3 choices, for the 3 endings. NOTHING you do, NOTHING you say, NO CHOICES you make with people, matter. At all. And to me, that is Disgusting lazy. For a game THIS deep on morals, questioning, philosophy, beliefs and view point. Why wasn't the ending decided based on the choices you made with the Humans AND the 3 Projections? Hand crafted to 1k's view point, the view point YOU programmed into them through playing as them and picking the answers through them. What is the POINT of the ENTIRE GAME, the ENTIRE FIRST GAME, if the ending comes done to: Copy Backup of Save right before ending choice, pick an ending, replace with copy of original, pick new ending, replace with copy of original, and finally pick last ending. That is EXTREMELY Disrespectful to the ENTIRE Concept of the game, cause you can go through the ENTIRE game, making every choice to end the machine, it is a threat, that you must follow the Goal, hiding away all the truth, then get to the end and decide, "Nah, Let's pick the happy ending where we can go to space and spread life!". It spits in the face of building a moral compass, and staying true to those morals throughout. ----- I also hate the endings themselves, cause they are so Unimaginable. The first ending gives only ONE person the power to create life, and he just vanishes and is never seen by the population ever again. They don't grow, they don't expand, they just told to fuck off and 1k has all the powers of god. It should have shown him taking place AS a god, HELPING the people by teaching them what he learns, fixing their power issues, bringing in star ships, and filling the universe with life, beauty, and creatures for the 'new humans' to explore, discover, learn, and grow with. The second ending should have been seen more as a bad ending, that your choice locked away the 'New Humans' Future. For tho they get rid of the goal and turn into society like us today, they will eventually run out of resources, with no alternitives, and eventually die, without the machine. It might take thousands of years, but eventually they will use everything and die. That is a BAD ending. The third should be seen as the WORSE Ending tho, cause while in the second ending, they could possible learn to freeze themselves, locked away in storage for eons, to wait for more resources to return, and enjoy 'sleep mode' in a connected matrix like simulation till then, as the PROGRESS their Tech, knowledge, and could chose to use the machine as a final fail safe to move to a new planet if needed. In the third ending they fully STAGNATE, they follow the Goal, they never grow, they never expand, they never learn. And eventually the Dam finally can't be repaired and dies, and with no more power, they all die one by one, till the entire species is wiped out, having never grown, never progressed, never changed, never learning. They exist, isolated, too small to even be a footnote, before passing away, long forgotten, with no meaning, no impact, and no one caring. The 3 endings were horribly done, in my eyes, and it is a shame for such a great game, as everything else was amazing. But at the end of the day, they never learned from history, and repeated Mass Effect 3's mistakes all over again.
