This is the last known surviving truck from the movie Duel. This is some footage I had from when I owned the truck from 02 to 05. I would like to thank Digital Dreams Studio for helping me put this together

Local hospitals reported an unexpected spike in the number of motorists admitted with heart problems that day. Garages reported high sales of radiator hoses.

@@jasonkrane6285 ... Truth.. That Truck ?? " VERY " Scary..
That gearbox sounds beautiful; snick, snick, snick into each detent without even a hint of fuss. It's good to see such an iconic truck still on the road!
I remember watching this film for the first time when I was 5. And when I used to see the truck I used to hide. 23 years later it still gives me chills what a powerful symbol of fear and intimidation.
This was my Dad's favorite movie. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I watched this movie with my Dad when I was younger. To this day I am absolutely terrified of trucks on the highway. If I ever saw THIS TRUCK barreling on the highway, I'd pass out at the wheel right there.

I feel very lucky to have owned that truck.. I too saw the movie when it first aired in 71..And to have a little bit of film from when I did Is a great memory..
Swiss cheese on rye... R. Y. E.. Seen this film so many times. Absolutely love it.
Spielberg's first film , amazing , It ticks all the boxes in every way , it is an American Film legend .
For any fan of the movie seeing this is truely awesome. Beginning at 0:12... this would be the perfect way to begin Duel Part 2. To hear it starting up again sent chills down my back. I just hope the truck is in good hands now. Hope it never dies.
If I saw that thing out on the street, or even heard it coming, I think I would run and hide for a few *hours*
This truck has got "badass" written all over it
Imagine driving on a desert road and seeing this truck in your rear-view mirror.
this movie still scares the shit outta me
The truck that went over the cliff was the primary truck that was used in the movie.. The one you see here in this vid. was the standby truck.. ( truck # 2 ) Truck # 3 is the one that was used for the Train crossing and School bus scene's
It's great to see this movie star again. I love it. I miss, Dennis Weaver already.
Well... For the 3 years that I owned it.. They were very cool about it being there.. Burbank CA. Is a very Movie friendly town.. ..I think that is the only reason i was able to get away with " 60 feet of the ugliest tanker you've ever seen " in my driveway at my house...
Thank you Allison.. I can't tell you how much fun this Rig was to own.. Just like you said.. Love the movie.. Love the truck for sure...
I have had that happen a few times.. Driving down the road . and Seeing the shocked look on peoples faces.. It was very obvious that they knew what this truck was..
I saw your truck driving East on Magnolia years ago. I couldn't believe my eyes. I shouted out the window when you went by, "Duel truck!". I turned around to get a better look, but the truck was gone like a phantom. This was just after four other sound editors and myself had recut all new sound effects for the new release on DVD with 5.1 audio. I wish we had access to your truck when we were creating the new effects. Your were just a few miles away from Universal. Thanks, for a great video and for preserving this truck. It's part of film history.

"I don't believe it, I just don't believe it!" They always want to talk about the chase in Bullitt, how about being chased by a Psycho driving a Peterbilt 281 while all you have is a 6 cylinder Plymouth Valiant
Oh my goodness joe Schlotthauer, this female Jo loved the movie and I still love it. I own a DVD copy and watch it from time to time. The above footage brought back the delicious fear I have whenever I re-watch it. It never fades......... The sight of the the truck, the sounds of it. If I ever saw it turn into my driveway I'd have heart palpitations for sure! Thanks to those who made the above video. Jo from Australia.

scariest truck in the history of ever!
Selling this rig was NOT on the top of my To Do list let me tell you .. BUT there are times when life dictates what we must do. Just so glad to have owned it for the time i did
Remember when Weavers says "How can he go so fassssssst!?" Awesome job
Watching this again a year later, this truck is so sinister lol. Thank you Mr. Spielberg

Big Thank You to him.... The movie could have been So bad with out him..
Saw the movie many, many, times and will see it many more. Love that beast of a truck. Great video.
BAD ASS!!, I have the DVD and I saw it in 1971 at the grand lake theater when it premiered!
The "Petina" and the sound of the cat engines they used in the trucks are what made the truck so menacing. The old school turbo diesel in that truck put out one of the the best exhaust notes to ever come out of a truck.
Can't beat me on the grade
So many great scenes from the movie..... but the scariest is the shot of the truck slowly pulling under the bridge as Mann is helping the school bus.. then the way the lights come on when Mann sees it.. As though the driver has seen him and said yes im here!!!! The lights coming on are like the opening of Draculas eyes!!
the best movie of spielberg ever...
The mirror on the hood is to watch the stack... ( back in the day's before Pyrometers.. )
This is absolutely brilliant, great to know the truck is still alive and well. I absolutely grew up with this film, I still have it on VHS when it was played here in about 1983 - tape still works! First saw it about 1977 as a very young kid and was spellbound. Respect all round.
I had a smile on my face for this entire video
This is the f...g coolest Truck ever built, ( He has a "real" face ) I like this badass - engine sound Nice Video : )

"Well it's about time Charlie!"
I heard Speilberg say once in an interview that he approached the Duel movie with a " Hitchcock " feel.. ( I do like the " Bruce Dern " idea though ) That would have been Interesting.... I also thought that the truck would have been great in an " X File eppisode"...
Love the video, love the truck. I like the Duel truck so much I had to find one. Recently I was lucky enough to find a similar truck. Mine, though, is a 62 351 Pete with a 10x3, the frame is quite a bit longer and it has 4 headlights (which will be changed to the the dual headlights soon). Those early Petes just have a sinister look to them. Fun stuff!
Seeing the truck again, and I feel like Dennis Weaver when he realized the it and driver was waiting for him after all this time. It will always wait until it has to move.
it is great to keep and share this monumental truck wich is a part of my childhood love it thanks!!
The coffee can flying off the stack when it starts up..........totally makes the movie!!!!!!! AWESOME!!
And I can also play " It's a great day for the Irish " on the High Flat Table....
"THAT"..... was insanely creepy!!! Watching and hearing it start up with that infamous black smoke blowing out the diesel stack pipe and moving slowly down the driveway gave me the shivers. Even turning onto the street from the house....this truck exudes pure evil. If I saw this truck on the highway, I'm getting off at the next exit. The drivers of this "beast" have real skills, thats an old peterbilt, the shifting and the backing into the driveway. Not an easy task. I'll bet the neighbors don't get on the truck owners nerves.......would You? Thank you for posting this.😓😓😓
The wreck was cleaned up and hauled away the day the finished shooting...
If I had that I would follow people in it.
When that truck went over the cliff in the movie, the driver's door was open. Hmmm, with this rig, how about a duel 2???
Man, this is neat! I can imagine this would be a terrifying sight to see for anybody who has seen the movie! It looks in fantastic shape. You must have taken real good care of it. Great video! Thanks for putting this together and uploading it here!
Wow. So awesome, thank you for sharing. When I saw the truck pulling out of that narrow driveway I thought to myself I would LOVE to see them back that monster up back into that driveway and you delivered! Awesome!

I remember all the chatter on the CB in Missouri on I-44 when it was driven to St.Louis. It was cool to stop on the side of the interstate and wave as he drove by.
Amazing video! ‘I gave you the road why don’t you take it?’ 👍🏻
Remember seeing Duel for the first time as a ten year old. Twenty-five years later and it's still the greatest film I have ever seen.

How cool is THIS?! I was surprised it started right up and went barreling down the street! The 1971 film was awesome....some of the best cinematography ever! Thanks for uploading this!
Excellent production. Grew up being terrified of that truck.
Very cool. I remember as a kid staying up late in 1975[the 9 o'clock movie] and watching 'Duel'. I actually just revisited that movie two weeks ago and enjoyed all the scenery from the valley of California. Great movie, excellent KZread post.
Duel was the first horror film I ever saw, and is still hands down my favourite. I love getting people to see it for the first time. This vid was a real treat to see, that truck is STILL terrifying. Thank you for sharing!
You were so freaking lucky to have that truck!! I need to get something similar to pick my kids up from school in.

Love the small mirror on the front of the hood. A couple old timers told me that was so the driver could keep an eye on the volume/color of the exhaust smoke, which would be a sign that the engine was being overlugged/over fueled

Thank you both for solving that mystery for me. I always figured it was for keeping an eye on the top of the truck, should have figured it would be the stack they were looking at.
Brilliant....That music still creeps me out!!
One year. ( when i still owned it. ) I put it at the mouth of my driveway.. And strung some cobwebs on it... Then i sat in the cab and spun the starter when kids would walk by... Gave them a pretty good jump... lol...
This has really made my day! I'm so glad there is a movie truck still around with its tanker! pure awesomness. Merry christmas!
One of my favorite trucks of all times!!!!!! Many thanks for posting your production.
Lol! I still luv this movie.....from being a kid to being a truck driver now myself. Thanks for the memories!
That is so cool. That bastard turned around and came back!!!

@edcardinal I was able to own the rig for about 3 years.... Yea..I saw the movie when it first came out.. ( I ran all the way home after because i was sure was going to come and get me ) lol... I got the rig from Jack Knife King George Sack. I just can't put into words how cool it was to own it.. Thanks...
If I owned that, I'd be so tempted to recreate the movie every time
that music is fucking eerie dude.....
So beautifull truck with the citern all is like the film Duel. I was hopening that David Mann (Dennis Weaver) would be on road! I like Spielberg realisations.Congratulations for this video ! And Greetings from France. Fred

Really well done video. I haven't watched Duel for a long time but this rekindled my love of the film. This truck is incredible
Love the movie grew up watching it. I'd love to have this truck. Right now I'm building a electric cardboard model of the truck which will have to duel me for now :)
What a rig.Great to see it never went to the crusher. That movie scared the hellout of me when I was a kid.It stilllooks the same.Well done.
Man, that was an awesome video! It scared me just watching you leave the driveway! Gotta love your neighbors!
I too have loved that movie since I first saw it in the 70s. What a great video Rex, it's fantastic to see someone with such an iconic vehicle have some fun with it rather than just haul it around to shows as a static display. So sorry you had to sell it.
Thats freakin awesome, watched Duel for the first time in the middle of the night long time ago and it hasn't been the same...lol
Excellent! Thanks for sharing. I always wanted that rig.
Great piece of work.. One of my fave movies.. Thanks
That's the coolest thing I've seen in a long time :) One of my favorite movies when I was a kid (and it still is to this day.)
i love this video thank you so much. That truck is so uber cool! Ive seen this movie so many times together wih CONVOY-1978.
Pity you couldn't hang on to it. I guess not many people would make the connection to a nearly 50 year old movie but it would shitscare me on a lonely road if I saw it in the mirror. I was only 12 when it came out and it 's burned into my friggen memory forever.

LOL....That is AWEsum !!! Had anyone noticed the "Rain Cap" take off, on start-up??? That gives the perfect touch...compression, gotta luv-it...Thanx, for this ! ! !
Very well done montage! Pulling up behind that Ranchero and letting it blast must have been priceless! All of the surrounding drivers had to have a "wardrobe change" for sure... Like the others said, I'd give anything to see it in action again.
That truck is so cool! I love it.It needs to hook up with the car from Christine.
WOW! What an amazing piece of movie history! It should be in a movie museum!
This was awesome!!! I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and I always rooted for the truck to win!
It was just beond cool to drive... I was really supprized to see how many people knew what it was...
Aw man-disregard my recent post,I thought it didn't go through until I refreshed the browser, then the original post appeared. Thanks for answering my question. Dad taught me how to shift a "brownie" back in the day. Never got to be a gear jammer due to health reasons but still keep in practice with a friends 350 now and then.Need to find the dvd for my collection now!
its some kind of souped up diesel
This is a great video, that truck has character! I always wondered where the last truck went :)
great ''remake'' I'm from holland europe, and i remember seeing this movie as a kid with my parents, and i still can remember how we all were jus ta scared as dennis weaver in the movie did. Aslo this remake has some scenes that are just as good as the real movie, so this is a 5 out of 5 for sure! And what a great job to restore and preserve a movie icon like this great truck. i'll bet anyone that it would still scare the hel out of people when you drive behind them on a deserted road.
Thank you... And yes.. I do consider myself luck for having owned it... It was quite the experience...
This is a great piece of work here.
OMG! If I saw that truck in my rear-view mirror ... let's just say only the dry cleaner would know how scared I was. HAHAHA But it is a fantastic movie.
