This really shows how bleak and shitty Warsaw was in early 80's and makes one appreciate how far we have come. This shots from Warsaw in this video are straight up depressing. And make for great contrast with this amazing fucking song.

and don't forget the fall of the iron curtain that was just realized/happening ... the nukes were abandoned, agreements signed, the soviet system collapsed ... we were hopeful (i was 20 in 1985 and went back to school after 3 yrs in army and serving on a nuke base in Germany), the cold war was over, the world was ours ... and then Nato ruined it by wanting to be the "ruler of the world". Now i say "Yankee, Go Home". Bring down our own walls. The Russians wanted cooperation and peace. We did not give them a chance and kept fighting them.

Like, how can you even say that? From Wikipedia: "In 2007, the BBC described Weller as "one of the most revered music writers and performers of the past 30 years".[61] In 2015, Pete Naughton of The Daily Telegraph wrote, "Apart from David Bowie, it's hard to think of any British solo artist who's had as varied, long-lasting and determinedly forward-looking a career."[62] Please explain to me your rationale for making the massively uninformed comment you made. He's made SIXTEEN (16) albums. I'm so close to losing my composure, and I swear to you it has been wholly tested in the past 12 hours. Your comment makes it sound like "British bands out there" are meteors in space with destinations unknown. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. 🔥

This was on 'Now That's What I Call Music 5'. I played those tapes to death in 1985 as a 10 yr old. Looking back, I feel almost spoiled with all the brilliant music that we just took for granted because we had no idea how CRAP the music would be in the future.

*yawn* what a lazy clichéd comment, and if you played this to the generation before us they would say this was crap and the 70's had the best music, and my mum doesn't really like much from the 70's but loves the 60's, whereas my grandad thinks everything from the 60's is just noise....do you see what I'm getting at? The moment you start saying all modern music is crap is when you have finally lost touch with modern music trends and you have become your parents. If you can't find any good music to listen to since the 80's (especially with literally every song, written and performed, being available to listen at the push of a button then you either aren't that bothered about listening to music or you're just using these crappy old arguments to get likes KZread. There is literally no excuse for not being able to find new music that you would enjoy in this day and age.

@@andrereloaded1425 - Because it's such a baited question. It just becomes a "Eww they're crap!!". I don't know what you genres you're into. I like everything from Hip Hop to Dub Reggae, Death Metal to Jazz, Techno to Indie, Blues to Drum & Bass, Glam to Punk, Reggae to Funk, Disco and Soul and everything in between. I spend most of my time looking for, and listening to, new (or old) music. I have been collecting records since I was about 4 years old. My first "real" album that I purchased is still one of my favourite albums ever, which was "Dirk Wears White Sox" the debut album by Adam & The Ants. There's literally no point in me trying to suggest what bands I think compare favourably to older bands as you will just turn it into a musical willy waving contest. This is the biggest cliché ever, but it's true, music is completely subjective. But to get the best out of it you have to be open minded, and ready to embrace new bands, styles and cultures.

Hi m8. I really think that Paul Weller should definitely be knighted 4 his great music. And 4 releasing the Jam track . That's Entertainment as a ace A side single. Which always reminds me of a great Chess match 4 Portsmouth against Cosham in a Cole Cup Chess match. That I played in. Which l was 4 pawns down and I still 1my game. And we 1 the match 4 1. And That's Entertainment also reminds me of a great Human League gig that I have gone to c.

Walls Come Tumbling Down!" adds a dash of post-punk urgency to the glossy soul that had become the Style Council's stock in trade. Soaring, anthemic music that makes this single the best protest single of its time and place.
