The Stupidest Tacoma I've Ever Built.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's time for my personal truck project, a 4wd Prerunner Tacoma. Center mount 4wd tacoma with 4 link trailing arms, cage, mid mount LS3, 40's and not much Tacoma.

So stoked on this build and love all the nerdy details! I guess for the front end you’re limited by the cv axles but I’d stick with A arms and maybe even tig them! Thing is so sick and can’t wait to see it at a car show or summin! 👌🤘🇨🇦

Definitely need to keep cracking on it! Might do a-arms but might do j-arm upper.

When it’s all wrapped up maybe Toyota can come take a look at it so they know what we really want 😂 Seriously though we know your not really a build channel but damn we want to see the entire process. Hopefully you bring it down to one of our TW meets here in Washington. It would be cool to see your truck next to Chris’s truck.

Haha! I'd love to do some consulting for Toyota! If this thing ever gets finished Id be stoked to come down. I'm going to try and shoot more build videos about this truck, but it adds time to the build

Awesome update and tour! This thing is gonna be such a beast. A few questions to consider and maybe address in the next video- what will the bed look like? Will you retain anything close to the stock bedsides somehow? How long will the bed be? On another note, is it still gonna be an “overlander” that you camp and bike out of? Or is this a transition into strictly a trail/desert rig with no room for camping gear and a tent? Keep up the rad work man!

Glad you enjoyed it! There won't be a "bed" per se, it will be a full tube chassis back half. There will be as big of a storage space as I can possibly fit in the very back. The original plan was to still run an RTT, but lately I haven't been into the RTT scene, and I'm not sure how I could fit bikes plus the RTT, so I may scrap that and figure out a ground tent setup that can be stored. I'll be using fibreglass bedsides, so it will still look like a truck. I plan to still camp and bike out of this truck, and do decent length road trips, but it's definitely going to be leaning far heavier to the side of being built for blasting, than it is for being comfortable for long highway drives.

Listening to your thought process is so cool and is so inspiring! I've had the exact same idea of putting my front control arms inboard to help increase travel without adding width, so I am excited to see how that plays out so I can also do that one day! Keep up the good work!

It's an insane amount of work and more expensive than I thought to make work with 4wd. With 2wd it would be easy!

Might have to go with a TTB in the front to get the travel you're after.

I've been told that several times, but I'm just not a fan of beams honestly. I know that's sacriligious... I'm gunna do my best to make a center mount setup fit somehow!

Ultralander maybe? I'm basing most of everything I'm doing off of ifs ultra 4 cars, but with pretty major compromises for being on the road and for camping etc

Why doesn’t the cage use a single main hoop bar? And build the halo off that. I only ever see off-road guys do it. Anything racing or car related uses a single bar for the main hoop. Just curious.

You can make a strong and safe cage either way. The difference is that in cars, the entire cage is within the cab of the car, and the car itself is much smaller. The main loads in a track car are side to side around corners. A main hoop that goes across the car is an easier way to stiffen the chassis for those forces. In offroad, the main loads are from the suspension hitting big bumps at high speed. The cage is also much larger, and a larger part of it goes out of the back and holds the entire back half, so the cage is much stronger and triangulates the entire chassis much better if the main hoops go from front to back.
