but did he do it because he thought the repeal of the Bill was wrong ? the Republicans all round and even some Democrats had strongly opposed the bill. In fact Democrats also felt that the bill was responsible for their massive losses in successive mid terms during Obama presidency. He probably did it because Donald Trump said of him that he likes people who were not caught indicating McCain had surrendered during the Vietnam war. And asked him how he managed to buy 6 houses after leaving the army. Certainly not possible on the support grant the army provides. He did to prevent President Trump from enacting a major reform or poll promise. President Trump had promised he would abolish Obamacare if voted to power. The Obamacare bill has not done much. It has brought more people under formal insurance but insurance premium have not gone down but only up.

The wild cheers of joy and relief from the big crowd gathered outside vs the arms crossed anger, and almost tearful defeat in McConnell's voice: Will he ever watch that segment and realize that he is supposed to work FOR the American people? He, Ryan and Trump have all fought like troopers to replace the ACA with a much worse and much more expensive option, in a country where 80% of the population wants some variation of a single payer system. They are supposed to be public servants, not public self servants! Every time they are defeated on this, people all over the US are cheering like crazy from their streets, town squares, coaches and wheelchairs. We hear and see you very clearly in Europe. The Republicans in Washington don't. The Tea party movement was born from a Republican outrage over Obama's determination and success in passing a bill that ensured affordable healthcare to a large part of the population that previously had none. Now it's your turn to do the same, and hopefully with even greater success. Make sure they get the message, loud and clear, in 2018. Mobilize! The 10% at the top may well have 90% of the capital in your country. But 90% of the people have 90% of the votes.

@@DT-it9er McConnell was the enabler. He was a coward who put party over country and stood by while Donald wrecked the country. And then when the Senate had a chance to cut ties with Trump and disqualify him from office by voting to convict for impeachment, McConnell persuaded most of his caucus to vote no. And thus, Trump is still the albatross hanging over the Republicans necks, costing them elections.

McConnell's pathetic speech after he and members of his party including trump was self serving and not genuine whatsoever after their repeated attempts to intentionally get rid of Obamacare without a replacement. Heartless and despicable doesn't even begin to scratch the surface to describe trump, McConnell and the republican party.

I lived in Australia for 13 months and used their government healthcare system and it was totally fine! I loved being able to just go pick up my prescription when I needed it and just going to the doctor when I needed it, even when i didn't have the money to afford it was awesome! I think a lot of people on the right who are exaggerating the problems with government-funded healthcare have no actual experience with it! My experience was positive and I'm excited for us to have that here in the States!

We as voters regardless of political party affiliation have to do better in terms of who we vote for and why . Our votes are our voices and together they are powerful tools to help effect change in this country so that everyone has an equal opportunity to grow, thrive and be the very best we know we all can be. Our votes should be based on the issues that affect our daily lives and not because of a R or D behind the name of the candidate vying to represent us.

As someone who has been registered to vote as a Republican my entire adult life, I haven't always agreed with McCain. But, I always respected him for his sacrifice and because on major issues he'd step up and do what's right. This was no exception. Rather than cater to McConnell's and/or the party's power play, he did what was right for Americans who depended on the protections that the ACA affords them. He knew it'd screw over 10Ms of Americans, and he protected them instead of being a political shill like McConnell and his buddies. Wish McCain was still around. We need more people like him in the Senate and Rep party.

Real bipartisanship requires both political parties to put their personal grievances, pride and egos to the side in order to be effective in giving the voters a better return on their investment for electing those who promised to work on behalf of their constituents not corporations. Bipartisanship also begins with trust and respect for differences of opinion.
