Bailouts are low-interest repayment plans, not forgiveness. When Obama bailed out a failing car company they had to pay back with interest. Next time choose a STEM degree, it pays well.

I saw the 0% interest period as an opportunity not to take a vacation from the loan but as an opportunity to attack it while I was in school. I paid it off within six months of getting done with my degree and didn't pay a dime in interest.

The only option for some is to work for a public entity for at least 10 years. The government is giving an additional 3 years, so you really only need 7 years to receive the forgiveness

I agree though, that those waiting around for an outright dismissal of their student loan debt are dreaming! Thanks for your hard work.

No. Student loan forgiveness not happening wasn’t a failure. It was a success. Successfully avoided a moral hazard. Student loan borrowers are heavily subsidized by the taxpayers to begin with to qualify. Otherwise why would the bank loan money at low rates to ppl who have no jobs no degree no credit history to go to school for years? I’d be grateful for what the taxpayers already do for the student loan borrowers.

And what about what tax payers do for large corporation bailouts or the billions of wasted dollars that went into pointless wars? We are more ready to fund wars than to try to make college cheaper. When the bars at colleges are lowered or there are shortages in industries like there is now are you okay with getting a lower skilled professionals or having to pay insane amounts to get help from those professionals? Imagine getting sued or needing tax assistance and you either cannot afford it or the quality you get is terrible.
