The fact that the chain chomp ultimately helps you in SM64 and in Link’s Awakening cemented them as cute in my imagination. I was walking on the sidewalk in my neighborhood, this ferocious dog was barking loudly at me and I did have a dreadful feeling that it might come off it's chain. Then a couple seconds later, it did and came towards me. Then, the owner came outside and told me not to move.... and either because I was retarded or I figured he knew his dog better than me, I stood almost perfectly still and sweating in fear. I thought I was about to fucking be torn apart. Thankfully though, the dog eventually got bored I guess and ran off. It's interesting how me and Miyamoto of all people shared such a similar experience, but trust me: I wish I didn't. In fact, I wouldn't wish that kind of psychological scar on anyone.

I used to be scared of those things when I was little 😭 whenever I did the snowboarding thing in mario and sonic at the winter olympic games I would always stay away from the chain chomps when playing it

I literally love the chain chomps. They make me happy. Sure, they are a little scarry, especially when they rush you. but still cute

I have to admit I don't know how it feels having a dog attack you, but but the Chain Chomp leaping at you in a game has to come veeeery close. So thanks to Miyamoto we can all experience it 😊

I just thought everyone knew they were supposed to be like dogs. Because of the Chain Chomps from the yoshi games on the NES and DS I was scared of them and would have nightmares of them. Also was scared of the squids.

It's pretty cool that Bowser is based off of a cartoon character from the 60s, which was based off of a book written about 500 years ago. Journey to the West is actually an interesting read, though a bit confusing

The chain chomp never scared me but those octopi that chase you underwater, now that's scary for a kid!! They bop all over the place too so you have to try and learn their patterns on top of running from them

If you stay on the screen with a Chain Chomp in Mario 3, it eventually breaks it’s chain... I don’t remember exactly how long it takes, however...
