    When I told my mother my husband was a violent bully, she fell about laughing. She thought he was perfect and that I was “lucky to get him”. When we divorced, my family took his side. He was very charming - outside the home. No-one knows what is going on in someone else’s marriage; there may have been trouble in paradise long before Todd killed his wife.

    I'll never understand that. I abhor violence. I find it highly degenerative and toxic to the goals of our social evolution. However..... If my daughter even hinted that her SO was violent or intimidating, my wife would need to bail me out of jail later that same day. I don't even see how it could be possible to take something like that lightly or not look into it.

    I was in an abusive relationship when I was in my 20s. Nobody knew. Nobody. Not my family or friends. And when I left him and told people what he’d done, there were several people that did not believe me. So I absolutely believe that he was abusive. It happens more than most people realize. And it’s awful to live that way. That poor woman.

    In my 20’s I had a boyfriend that everyone loved. He won over my own family. One day when we both thought no one was home, my boyfriend hit me so hard that he knocked me to my knees. My mother heard the entire thing from upstairs and all she said was she thought it was time for him to go home. The next weekend we both joined my family on a day trip to a brunch at a Oregon resort restaurant. My parents thought this man loved me and I should be grateful that.I had someone who was always following me and keeping up with my every movement. Devotion it was called. Did he love me? No , he wanted to keep me under control. When the next beating happened , a few weeks later, I decided I’d had enough “love and devotion “. Although you couldn’t really call it a break up , until I left the state to pursue my own dreams, I was ridiculed by our mutual “friends” and by some of my “family “ because I’d “never find someone who’d love me like this man loved me “. This was right before cell phones and text messages but I was still under his thumb. My point is that I can see how Barb was hounded by her husband and still after her murder , nearly every one else didn’t think Todd could have been guilty. This type of men are master manipulators. Barb could have kept quiet for the same reason I did, her husband was better at pulling the wool over people’s eyes than she was in telling the truth. My heart broke when my family ignored the signs in favor of my boyfriend, I can only imagine that Barb knew she wouldn’t be believed and probably decided that for the sake of family ( her children and grand child mostly) she’d endure hell on earth before opening her heart up one more time to people who just wouldn’t listen. Rest In Peace Barb.

    My mom got out of a marriage like this. No one could believe that my dad could do anything wrong. But o was a witness - and behind closed doors he was so cruel to both my mom and us kids. She had to surprise leave. I’m glad she was smart enough not to warn him. I think some of these women seal their own fate when they reveal their plans and her husband snaps. Maybe that’s what happened in this case. He couldn’t bear the thought of having his/their perfect image tarnished.

Aside from that though, I also believe, having just seen the 48 Hours episode about this case, that he's guilty as hell of his wife's murder and the so-called 'experts' who seemed to believe he may have suffered traumatic memory loss (as a reason for why he gave so many lies to detectives questioning him about why he didn't drive Barbara to work that morning but, instead, drove in entirely the opposite direction) couldn't give conclusive proof one way or the other as to why he gave differing accounts of what (he claimed) happened, as to how Barbara's injuries were sustained, etc. All of the so-called expert evidence seemed to be mainly speculative, not necessarily fact in this case. I believe that, far from having a supposedly blissfully happy marriage, the Kendhammers had problems, as do many couples, and that Barbara may have wanted out of the marriage. Todd, I'm sure, knew that she may have been able to move on, and find someone better for her, than he ever would and that he would not allow her to leave the marriage. I also believe that his son & daughter are deluded in thinking that their parents' marriage was wonderful and that their father could never have harmed their mother. They're adults and they need to face reality instead of having their head in the clouds and wasting time trying to get a guilty man freed from prison. As 'unpalatable' as the truth may be, their father seems to now be exactly where he belongs - behind bars.

Leaving their defence in anyone else's hands is also admitting to themselves that they _aren't_ the smartest person in the room, so their need to feel superior to everyone else overrides their common sense... logical things like getting a lawyer! @@Liliquan I wasn't talking about crime scene forensics but *his* choice of vocabulary. Do you think he's trying to "solve this accident"? Obviously, I'm looking at it from the perspective of the suspect, not the investigators. I'm quite sure that Todd Kendhammer was *not* thinking "It needs to be investigated and determined beyond a reasonable doubt blah blah blah..." No. He never said that, and I bet money he never thought that. According to him, he already knows it was just an accident. Does he not? Would you honestly use the word "solve" if you were him? Are you saying his argument is that it may *not* be an accident? The pipe falling off the truck might have been on purpose and that it strategically targeted only her??? Was this a laser-guided pipe? I never got that impression. In conclusion, NO, you do not "solve" accidents. You investigate the causes. The accident is the effect, not the cause. I did a quick Google search and no accident has ever been "solved", No. A mystery that causes the accident, yes. You might want to review your definition of the verb "to solve".

  • @Liliquan

    @Liliquan

    3 жыл бұрын

    O Alem If you’d paid attention then you would know what is being solved is whether or not the case can be considered an accident, not the accident itself especially given that it may not even exist. If you were actually looking from the perspective of the suspect, then you would know that he already knows that the police don’t believe his story and are currently investigating to see what was going on. And so, being a part of that investigation, he wants to help them solve it to the point at which they all agree that it was an accident. But I doubt you’d understand that given your inability to understand my original comment.

What about older couples who do everything together and have nobody else? Toxic? What about couples who choose to live "off the grid" and enjoy that kind of lifestyle? Toxic? There are plenty of valid reasons why people would do everything together and be perfectly happy doing so. What a silly comment.

    J Smalls my own experience of my seemingly “perfect Christian marriage” of 11 years!!! 1989-2002: My religiously church attending husband & bible college student - physically abused me 5xs and verbally abused me constantly- not around other people! I told NO ONE & could not talk about any of IT for over 15 yrs After my divorce! I didn’t tell my mother, nor my grandmother, nor my church friends - I told no one ! It’s embarrassing and I have too much ridiculous pride & church teaches us to pray & forgive & pray & forgive & that God fix’s everything! Constantly taught that - forgive forgive accept and church doesn’t address potential abuse in marriages not any church that I attended then regularly !!! === I met a lady 3 yrs ago randomly on a plane ride & somehow she opened up to me about her physically abusive preacher husband that she ran away from after 20+ yrs of marriage & she told me with tears in her eyes that she keep up the fake smile for years & told NO ONE! She literally ran away from her preacher husband and hid from him!!! I needed to hear what she had to say ! === PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE! They DO NOT KNOW -ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY DO NOT LIVE WITH THAT ABUSER CONTROL FREAK with serious self righteous egos ! 24/7 It’s embarrassing to admit and tell even now ! It’s my experience and I’ve learned to have real peace now yet I tell my experience to enlighten people now of truth vs fiction & deceit & lies Many People are dogmatic and think they know everything about other people with little or no facts !!! === If I had to do over now > I would have security cameras hidden in my home then I would have real proof then my story would have solid evidence!!! Then people would believe me not crazy !!! My x husband to this day -20 yrs later - will never admit or apologize properly what he did to me several times - to him “it never happened” And my reason for leaving him, my home, my things, my young children and didn’t take any of HIS MONEY! Was because he verbally threatened to “make me disappear” constantly! He had the power & “his money” over me that forced me to leave with a 5000$ car 12 yr old used car I got to get away from him in 2002 and my clothes (he drove & still drives a corvette & has his big house! He tried brainwashing family, friends & my CHILDREN that I just couldn’t take being a mom & wife anymore so I left like a coward! Quote! The real people hurt severely were my 3 beautiful confused children I left with their father - my abusive seemingly perfect husband === Consequences will hit him like a ton of hot coals pouring down over his head one day - because that’s laws of the universe - I know 1 day it will hit him like a frying pan to the face He’s so fake nice to me now & 2 weeks ago on Christmas was asking me on the phone to forgive him for him hurting me - but that’s not a proper apology because he admits nothing!!! Forgive what exactly? 🤔

    My ex husband of 16 years beat the living shit out of me the last night we were together. He hit me so hard in the chest my heart sustained the same damage as a heart attack. It was years before I could even walk up 1 flight of stairs, and 16 years later I can now walk up 2 flights of stairs bc of the exertion on my heart. Thus was back in the days of land line phones and the phone fell off the wall when he slammed me into it. When I hit the floor he jumped on top of me and started choking me. I grabbed the phone and was beating him in the head with it, it didn't phase him. I was fighting for my life and I got a hold of his hair, pulling it which caused him to loose his grip long enough for me to scream for my daughter downstairs. As soon as I said her name it was like he came out of a trance and realized what he was doing. He jumped up and ran outside, got in his car and left. I got my daughter and got the hell out of there. I went to the ED for treatment. The nxt day I filed for a divorce. It's literally a miracle that I'm here to type these words 16 years later. My family to this day still thinks I'm "exaggerating" and even wanted me to go back bc he was wealthy and "a wonderful man". All the money in the world won't matter if you are dead. AND this was the 1st time in 10 years he ever hit me, I would have laughed if someone had told me he was capable of such a thing.

    I thought the same. It was even stranger that the family was so quick to defend him, then again, from my experience at least, family will tend to believe anything when that person appears as a fine, 'upstanding' citizen on the surface - someone they 'trust'. Doubt they would've supported her regardless. I personally think he went into a blind rage only to have the severity of what he did and the consequences behind it hit him later. He seemed rather disoriented as well as scared/panicked. A weird case indeed. I can't begin to imagine what those 25 years must've held for her.

    People who are literally with their significant other all the time, drop them off controlling their access to transportation, never hang out with friends without the other person there, call multiple times during the work day etc: that is a classic codependent toxic relationship that is probably emotionally manipulative. When one person makes a move to assert their individuality the other will explosively react.

    I dated a guy who was amazing…at first. Then his true colors started to come out slowly. He had everyone convinced he was a great guy. All of my male coworkers adored him; a hunter and fisherman. When I realized I liked being alone rather than with him, and broke up with him, he blew up and called me every name in the book. Said I was cheating on him and when I kicked him out, he even stayed with one of my friends. When I told my friends what he said to me, they didn’t believe me until I said to ask my son. My son said he had nightmares that this man was going to come back and kill me. I have since moved and Years later, he somehow found me on FB and tried to friend me again. I blocked him and am always Leary of people who try to friend me if I don’t know them.

    Even if the relatives were right, if their relationship was absolutely perfect without psychological pressure or anything, that doesn't mean he didn't snap suddenly for unexplained reasons. The evidence is so obvious, the pipe without blood, the strangulation marks, the back of the skull broken, bruises on the biceps, broken glass where there shouldn't be and no broken glass where there should be, scratch marks on the husband and broken nails on the victim, no truck corresponding to the description, witness saying he saw the car already there without anyone inside and an intact windshield, lies from the husband about pretty much all their schedule.. I mean if that's not enough, then we should just all wait for murderers to gently confess. The family is delusional

    I thought the same thing. If your wife was killed in a freak accident I don’t care who you are, every vivid detail would be easily explained over and over again. The cuts on the knuckles this guy clearly beat the ever living crap out of her. As far as the pipe going through the windshield, that might be believable if both vehicles were in an interstate traveling at high rates of speeds. But traveling in a 2-lane back road I don’t think so. Any commercial vehicle would not be going that fast. The driver would risk getting pulled over and possibly losing both their job and license. Glad he was convicted.

If your with someone and something just feels off about them, like, they stare at you for an awkward amount of time, if they present in public one way, but when alone with you they are different, meaner. A good revealer is to tell this new love interest No. He/she says let's go to see a movie tonight, I've been dying to see this new movie with the Rock, tell them no!, lets just go to my sisters for sons birthday, guage his response, see what comes out of him.
