Tbh the inconsistencies with both nacht and verruckt have always created issues. Some of the theories that were thrown around back in the waw and bo1 days were that there were in fact more than 4 marines (probably a plane full) and the plane was on its way to the drop zone for verruckt but obviously crashed at nacht. The survivor count is basically unknown but some (myself included) believed that the surviving groups were separated due to the fog and the zombies in pursuit, with the 4 unknowns going to nacht and the other 4 (tank Dempsey's group of marines) going to verruckt to retrieve Peter McCain (which is why it's basically sunrise at that time). The marines at nacht are assumed to be either dead or captured, the original trailer hints that 1 definitely died at least. Also in terms of the inconsistency for playable characters, one of the other theories that was thrown round during the BO1 remaster was that Richthofen briefly went both to nacht and verruckt before the events of shi no numa (Sam would be in control by this point so the eye colours for both the BO1 and by extension 3 would be yellow). The reasons for him dragging the crew there is unknown, the speculation at the time was that he was re-tracing Peters steps due to him containing potential information on American facilities planned for experimenting with 115 (info he would later use to get to the moon). This would also lead him to finding a dead Peter at shi no numa. The loading screen was always a mystery, some theories point to it being a series of different events that are mentioned in the story with time periods being mentioned to accommodate it. The figures shown aren't known, some think it's Pernell and yuri (pentagon thief), with the scientists in the back belonging either to broken arrow (retcon) or the Ascension group. The crates seem to symbolise 935 scavenged resources being split between various NATO and Soviet nations (Reddit has some plausible explanations on this loading screen) Another major inconsistency is the eye colours for zombies in waw in general. The trailers (and from some older gameplay I've seen) shows zombies in maps like verruckt and Shi no numa have more of an orangish tint to them over the universal yellow. For waw verruckt it could be due to there being no controller but for shi no numa that wouldn't be the case. You could argue that it's a visual error in the trailers (revelations trailer also had some yellow eyed looking zombies in it which didn't make sense ). I know this sounds like a massive info dump but I do hope this may give you some ideas on the unanswered stuff, even if it's all just speculation passed around from years ago.

Weird that they got that wrong then, because it is _canon_ they were still working for the Nazis during this time. I guess WW2 just went on for a bit longer in this universe 😅
