I like that your backdrop matches your mersona. The green leaves like the tail and the blue curtain is the wide river.

I never thought of it that way, but I love it! Now I'm going to think of that every time I look at that corner.

totally agree with the mermaids are reptiles idea! I'm very into zoology and herpetology specifically, and I think mermaids would probably be ovoviviparous. Meaning they technically lay eggs internally, and the babies hatch internally, but are born live. Ovoviviparity happens in a lot of aquatic and semi aquatic animals, and it's kind of the gray area between mammalian and non mammalian reproduction, so I think mermaids would probably reproduce this way.

The mersona I have built up in my head over time is a reflection of important parts of whom I am as a Person. Her name is Luna Mist, which is a homage to my being pagan and my love of walking through nature under the moon watching the mist caress and kiss the plants. I too live in the PNW and my mersona lives in a forest also, they are just so peaceful and calming but she loves the slow pace of life in a lake watching after her fishy friends and other wildlife, playing pranks on the swimmers that show up on occasion, and keeping things nice and tidy.

Okokok I need to gush about this real quick, I figured out a concept for my mersona and I’m really exited about this: his name is Karth Arieas (Greek for shark but spelt in a loose pronunciation ) He’s essentially me (more so what I wish I was) and a bull shark, pretty aggressive but also docile most of the time. He’s beaten up and got an ass load of scars and each one has a story (represents the bullshīt I’ve been through) but still keeps going and picking more fights. He enjoys his alone time and isolation from others, but doesn’t mind some fish latching into him for the ride. He’s not native to the area but loves spending his time off the coast of Santorini and admiring the art and architecture from afar, slowly but surly learning their language, occasionally popping onto land to read and explore. That’s all I got but that’s essentially me but fish version

My merson Nerina came from the my fantasy siren I created in my head called Aquarus but I settled on Nerina because it's pretty and it means water nymph and it kind of went from their. I turned the beautiful city of Aquarlis (from the same dream fantasy I'd created Aquarus from) and started creating it in the more style of the little mermaid's kingdom, utilising caves and shell houses and using and befriending sea life to help them. But I like my mythology and a lot of my mersona's identity comes from the mythology surrounding Naiad's (normally I'm a siren person but I became captivated and felt like becoming a mermaid was almost a transformation and having the imagination that I could turn myself into descendant of minor goddess just captivated me allowing to combine my love for music, mermaids and DnD esc fantasy into one) so Nerina is a half Naiad, descending from one 3000 years ago that helped the city and disappeared and her blood is rare. She became the protector of her part of the ocean and is kind caring and lighthearted but left her city to explore the world to discover who she was as she knew she was more than just her blood of the Naiad. I just wanted something that allows me freedom because I move around a lot for university so I incorporated swimming in the sea's at home to swimming pools where I study into who she became. I also made her fantastical because I'd love to become a kids party entertainer whether as dressing up as a disney princess or as a mermaid so I wanted to create something magical for children too and what I would look up to as a child. She probably won't get her custom tail for ages as I'm about to get my first but I have her design in mind being inspired by the butterfly betta fish with a big ripply tail and similar dorsals and extra fins. Plus she has a seal companion because they're cute

My mersona has the ability to change the way her tail looks exactly how the octopus does ( called Chromatophores) ( it makes it so that i can wear all the tail colors and stripes and patterns i want) but my main colors are blue and pink and my mersona has gills like a shark like the siren mermaid Ryn did... I'm still developing my merson tbh my mersona also has webbed hands now because my mersona goes through what I like to call metamorphosis and can and does evolve, my main color i gravitate towards is blue my mersona gives live birth and my merson also lives in a tropical ocean and is brackish (Brackish- able to swim in both salt water and fresh water) I'm a WV mermaid, my mermaid name is Zoephia[ In the future I'm planning on getting shark gills permanently tattoed on my lower ribs like Ryn had ]

That’s such a cool mersona! I love the idea of using chromatophores to change color, and the ability to evolve through a meramorphosis! You’ve put a lot of thought into this!
