This video is so detailed and helpful! Glad you talked abt drying, knowing me I woulda thrown any tails I get into the dryer without thinking had I not seen this lol I wanted to ask if you could make a video on how to prepare yourself physically for a mermaid tail, as in like how to get comfortable swimming with a monofin, swimming deeper underwater as opposed to on the surface , holding your breath, etc and how you learned/developed the ability for these things! :0

Thank you, I’m so glad you found it helpful! I totally understand why throwing the tail in the dryer would be your first though, but glad you saw my video before you did! Thanks for the suggestion. Even though I have been a mermaid for 3 years I’m still learning a lot about breathe hold and swimming techniques, so it may be a bit before I make a video on it. I will definitely keep it in mind for video ideas though!

I think the positive side of having a fabric tail are it's easier maintain than a silicon tail.

So true! And they take up a lot less space than silicones too.

Awesome contentt! Super helpful :) ❤️✨ quick question, how do you transport heavy tails around? I have a whimsy fantasea fin 3 from mertailor. Its super amazing, but very heavy. And carrying it is usually a pain. 😂😂 i just GENTLY fold it and put it in a massive shoulder bag. Id love to see how other mermaids in the community transport their heavy monofins and tails around. 😂😂 but anyways, looking forward to future vids! 🙃🙃🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️

Thank you, I’m glad you found it helpful! I have a tail bag from finfolk productions that I lug all my tails in which is nice because it has extra straps to help distribute the weight. My friend who has a FF3 and doesn’t have a tail bag wears a back back and puts the foot pockets of the fin on the backpack then drapes the tips of the fluke over her shoulders and that works really well for her!

@@mermaidminnow okayy thanks so muchh! Cause carrying a heavy monofin across a long distance beach in a shoulder bag wasn’t a vibe. My shoulder isn’t happy 😂😂 Ill try to find a backpack that fits it. Thanks again!

Hello! I know this video has been made some time ago and you maybe have gotten into my question in a video which i just havent seen yet but I would rly appreciate the help! :D So i just bought a Mermaid Tail from MagicTails and I was planning on taking it with me for a swim in the ocean. Now I have never taken one to the Ocean, so I was wondering if you have any advice regarding how to put it on without damaging the Fabric to much. I have read that you should not stand with the Tail on so I am a little dumbfounded... How does one get into the water when you sit on the sand :D It seems fairly impossible to cover the monofin with the fabric while being in the water so I was wondering if you have any advice on how to get into the water from the sand, without damaging the tail to much. :)

I am still around! Most mermaids use the butt scotch to get to the water from shore. So carefully moving our fluke forward then lifting your bum to move it towards your fluke (while your fluke is on the ground). You do this while is a sitting position so that if you lose balance you fall not as far and on your bum. You really just want to avoid jumping in your tail since you could fall and harm yourself.

I’m curious what differences there are when caring for silicone or a mix.

I plan on working on a silicone tail care tutorial soon, so hopefully that will help answer some of your questions. With hybrids take a mixture of both to care for them.

I'm confused... A mermaid tail is definitely not a toy, but then you say: 'Their like any other sort of costume', I'd like to know your opinion. Is it a costume for you? A swimming equipment? Cool flippers? What would you say it is? I'd say it's a swimming equipment :) (Just to make it clear, I'm not attacking anybody, it's just a question)

You are right, mermaid tails are not toys. I would say it depends on what part of the tail we are talking about. The monofin I would say is more swim equipment but the tail itself is more of a costume. Costumes do not equal toys and I’m sure many performers would agree with me.
