The Story of Jewish Music Legend, Avraham Fried | Meaningful People #82

Avraham Shabsi Friedman, better known by his stage name, Avraham Fried, is a tremendously popular singer and shaliach. Avraham was encouraged to pursue a music career by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. His career was jump started with the release of his first album No Jew Will Be Left Behind in 1981
Avraham is the youngest of eight children of the illustrious Friedman family.
It has been said that “Avraham Fried is the least lazy person in the industry, the constant practicing, learning to dance, the voice lessons- his story is a story of tenacity and hard work.”
His trademark humility, energy, and passion continue to inspire thousands and thousands of Jews worldwide.

I am a big fan of both R' Avraham Fried and The Meaningful People Podcast! Regarding the Baby Shalhevet song: As a bereaved mother, please let Avraham Fried know that parents never forget the loss of their child. There is no need to fear reawakening the pain. Hashem has blessed us with the incredible capacity of carrying pain and loss while being able to embrace joy and positivity. It is heartening and when people acknowledge the children who have passed and keep their memory alive. There are many misconceptions of dealing with a bereaved parent. Remembering a person's child for good - in life or lhavdil thereafter - is always appreciated and wanted. For all us bereaved mothers, recording Shalhevet with this understanding would mean a lot.

Avraham once came to my nephews bar mitzvah after they met on stage once. He sang for free and made his day. He is an ish hachesed with a warm heart. I had tears when he said what he wants to be remembered for. Brucha v' hatzlucha, Chazak were the albums we grew up on. My favorite song was Adon Hashulem. I still sing it by the seuda. Brucha V'hatzlacha had don't hide from me. Boy was that a song. Avraham was our inspiration growing up. He is so unique. Thank you for bringing him on the show.

Thanks for an amazing podcast, Avraham Fried is the best! Loved his songs growing up and now my kids listen to him as well. A point he mentioned about us talking openly to Hashem in songs these days, I think he started the trend after his song "father don't cry, I love you too much to see you in pain". I remember it being very different, unique how he addressed Hashem so directly and openly then... Keep inspiring us all all and may you be zoche to sing the shir chadash with Moshiach now!
