    I remember being a young boy in the '70s and whenever this tune came on the radio, my dad would sing along and be in a happy mood. Looking back, dad was still in his 20s at the time and this song probably appealed to some youthful fantasy about getting one over on "the man" or something like that. If I remember correctly, dad always did the hand claps as well, even if he was driving.

  • @noahmatteson4525

    @noahmatteson4525

    2 жыл бұрын

    Les Paul taught him basic chords, but he was mainly taught by T Bone Walker and other blues musicians who came through Miller's house (his parents knew a lot of people in the music industry). By age 14 Miller was backing Jimmy Reed and Freddie King, and even B.B. King. He was around some of the greatest guitar talent from an early age. His earlier stuff from the late 60's really highlights his guitar work. Check out Steppin' Stone by him.

    I have a radio on 24/7. It's an "oldies" format. I get been a fan of Steve Miller, since the early 80s. When any Steve Miller song is played, I stop doing whatever, and increase the volume enough, to where I can sing along, but not hear my own voice. 🤣🤣🤣 Of course, I know I can't sing, so only do it when I'm alone, in my own space. Yes, I did it, while watching this, and all the other Steve Miller, Jamel has/will react to. Keep good music alive.

    The clap was a reference to Deep In The Heart Of Texas. Both times Texas was mentioned. Steve Miller is from Texas. Love the channel, and your attitude!

    Trivia. Steve Miller is from Milwaukee. His godfather is Les Paul, also from the Milwaukee area. Steve Miller's dad and mom were Les Paul and Mary Ford's best man and maid of honor.

    The first time I saw SMB in concert and he played this song. It seemed like the whole stadium did the clapping part together. Then we all cheered for each other.
