The State of Black Women in Corporate America

This discussion centers around The State of Black Women in Corporate America Report which draws heavily on Lean In and McKinsey & Company’s annual Women in the Workplace study. Over half of a million individual employees have participated in Women in the Workplace which makes it the largest study on the experiences of women of color at work. #blackcareerwomen #elevatingconversations

Excellent video, I work as a scientist in the lab, but it's also business related (technically corporate) and I can attest to all the issues relating to the glass ceiling, manager representation, and how we are treated versus literally anyone else. I helped form an African American Employee Resource Group at my job and so far it's helping a lot of other black people and women who though they were alone at their location in their struggle. I am also reading a book called 'our separate ways' by Ella Bell and Stella Nkomo. I highly recommend.

I’m experiencing this as well in the same industry, but as a project manager. I’m finding that I’m internalizing these disparities in treatment, and it’s impacting my confidence/self-esteem. In turn, my work performance is waning as I am double-minded, never wholly present in the moment because I always have a second set of thoughts about my race/gender going in the back of my mind.
