Presentation of the national anthem of the United States of America as performed by Sandi Patty combining the original lyrics written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 with a second, highly popular, verse composed by Claire Clonninger for the Statue of Liberty Centennial Celebration in 1986.
History:
"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort McHenry",[1] a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet, Francis Scott Key, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy ships in Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.
The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "The Anacreontic Song" (or "To Anacreon in Heaven"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it would soon become a well-known American patriotic song. With a range of one and a half octaves, it is known for being difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.
Sandi Patty is one of the most highly acclaimed performers of our time with five Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three platinum records, five gold records, and eleven million recordings sold, Sandi Patty is simply known as "The Voice." In fact, she is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history. Sandi was introduced to the world with her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner "during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. Virtually overnight she became one of the nation's best-loved performers and she has performed this stirring rendition of the national anthem over 1000 times in the last 25+ years.
Claire Cloninger is a six-time winner of the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award winner for lyric writing. Her songs have been widely recorded by such artists as Amy Grant, Sandi Patti, Wayne Watson, Don Moen and B.J. Thomas, to name a few.
She was commissioned by the national Statue of Liberty Centennial Committee to write a new second verse to "The Star-Spangled Banner" which was used as part of the centennial celebration. This popular new version of the national anthem was also used to cap off a patriotic centennial extravaganza at Disney World.

HI NEIGHBOUR when my grandma may she rest in peace she was born on the Tsarist Russian-Polish Border when she was 2yrs. she immigrated to USA. THEN SHE NEEDED A JOB DEPRESSION WAS ON SHE CAME TO CANADA MARRIED HER BOSS MY GRANDPA. BUT SHE ALWAYS SPOKE TO US NEVER BAD MOUTH THE USA SHE WAS RIGHT I WAS 8 YRS OLD I RESPECT THE USA. France is a beautiful country I wish to visit someday. I am sorry people stereotype it unfairly, but I love it almost as much as I love America. Long live the US, and long live our age old ally from across the sea!
I was unfortunate enough to be born in some light forsaken patch of land between Europe and Russia. But one day, I will come home - to America. Not only will I be a proud citizen of the this wonderful country, but I will make my country proud of me. God bless the United States of America!

Huge thanks for the support! I'm from Latvia. There are far worse countries to be born in, but I've never felt like I fit in, because of the post-Soviet ghosts still haunting the region. The USSR fell a long time ago, but most people still think capitalism is the root of all evil. Better dead than red.

If you want to get a laugh at the next baseball game, do this: After the song ends, start the second verse by yourself. “On the shores dimly seen, through the mist of the deep...” then stop, look around, and say, “Oh, y’all don’t know the rest of it?? oK, fine, whatever.” And sit down. Guaranteed laughs.

As a non-American, I see a beautiful art in American patriotism itself. One finds many other nice national songs of this country, and this differentiates the country from other countries where patriotism usually takes the form of barbarism.

My grandfather died a bombardier in service I thank him for his love and support he really loved my family my family thanks everybody for comeing out I loved my Grandpa so much 😮😮😮
