Presentation of the national anthem of the United States of America as performed by Sandi Patty combining the original lyrics written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 with a second, highly popular, verse composed by Claire Clonninger for the Statue of Liberty Centennial Celebration in 1986.
History:
"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort McHenry", a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet, Francis Scott Key, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy ships in Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.
The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "The Anacreontic Song" (or "To Anacreon in Heaven"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it would soon become a well-known American patriotic song. With a range of one and a half octaves, it is known for being difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.
Sandi Patty is one of the most highly acclaimed performers of our time with five Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three platinum records, five gold records, and eleven million recordings sold, Sandi Patty is simply known as "The Voice." In fact, she is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history. Sandi was introduced to the world with her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. Virtually overnight she became one of the nation's best-loved performers and she has performed this stirring rendition of the national anthem over 1000 times in the last 25+ years.
Claire Cloninger is a six-time winner of the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award winner for lyric writing. Her songs have been widely recorded by such artists as Amy Grant, Sandi Patti, Wayne Watson, Don Moen and B.J. Thomas, to name a few.
She was commissioned by the national Statue of Liberty Centennial Committee to write a new second verse to "The Star-Spangled Banner" which was used as part of the centennial celebration. This popular new version of the national anthem was also used to cap off a patriotic centennial extravaganza at Disney World.

In these dark times of protests and riots. It is important to remember our heritage and be proud of our beloved country. Our founding fathers drafted a constitution to form a “more perfect union” not a perfect union. They new we needed to grow and become better and stronger. I have been to many of her concerts over the past 30 years. Her voice is phenomenal. Her spirit is incredible. Her name is Sandy Patty. And her voice has always been a powerhouse. Her music will move you and yes bring you to tears but they are tears of joy. I have been a loyal fan from her very first album decades ago. I never tire of that beautiful voice she has. If you ever get to go to one of her concerts,you will be blessed in so many ways! If you can't make it to a concert,listen to her cd's,you will still receive a blessing!

I had 2 great uncles serve in the Philippines, One was a supply driver in the mountains of Luzon and the other one was killed by japanese flag over the sibuyan sea on october 24th 1944
