The Star Spangled Banner on Japanese koto by Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto

Музыка

Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto arranged and performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at the SF Giants' baseball game for Japanese Heritage Day on solo koto. Shirley is an 4th generation American of Japanese descent, born and raised in the SF Bay Area. Her mother learned to play the Japanese koto at the Topaz concentration camp during WWII when she and her family were imprisoned there only because of their Japanese heritage. Shirley is proud of her American and Japanese heritage, and expresses this in her music. She also learned the violin in public schools which helps her arranging skills. Shirley has also performed with musicians of many cultures and genres, and enjoys adding the koto music flavor to any project. Video by Robert C. Wong

always love sound of koto, but it looks to be very complicated instrument to learn. Moving the pillars mid song while also playing seems hard.

Who does ethnicity mean nothing to? Stop speaking for other groups; their ethnicity is their heritage and it definitely means something to them.
