I first saw a Porsche 911 in 1989. That shape, line and sound was like a new drug to 12 yr old me. 33yrs later, I have finally saved up, to be able to afford to get a 911.992 Carrera S as a daily ride. 12 months wait to delivery isn't going to be an issue after 33 years of waiting, saving and admiring every 911 car I have seen for 3 decades.

@@Jwdude123 you're right that mid engine is better performance wise, but to love something, its gotta have flaws, some people like the engine in the rear, gives the car a bit more character. thats not to say a cayman isnt fun to drive, its just people preferences.

I live about 10km away from the Porsche production plant in Zuffenhausen. It's crazy to think about that every 911 shown in this video was assembled by some Stefans and Hans' just a few blocks away from me.

I'll explain as to why 911's appreciate. Simple: They're just fucking perfect.

I think what this video could emphasize even more is the insane performance that comes with each new model. Right now there are three Porsche 911's that did the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes, the GT2RS, GT3RS and the new GT3. I believe that aren't more than 15 production cars who beat the ring in under 7 minutes. Porsche's engineering is incredible. The new 911 turbo S is also a monster from a standstill, beating basically everything you put against it. All that performance in that classic design just makes a perfect picture. It's also very modest in looks in comparison to competition, like Ferrari's and Lamborghinis.

The production cars that lap the nurburgring in under 7 mins are the 992 gt3, 991.2 gt3 rs weissach package, the 991.2 gt2 rs, the 918 spyder, lamborghini aventador svj, huracan performante, and the mercedes amg gt black series (possibly also the senna but that has never been tested) in terms of non production cars, the manthey racing tuned gt2 rs is the fastest street legal car around the ring, and they hold two places in the top 3 overall records with the top three being, 1. Porsche 919 evo, 2. Porsche 962, 3. Volkswagen IDR

@@jjoomusic The 718 cayman/boxster/spyder platform is the better chassis though. The GT4 could be way better than the GT3RS and even GT2RS. However Porsche limits the motor performance because the 911 has to always be their flagship model. Even a lot of Porsche owners say that the cayman GT4 is better than the 911 GT3 even if the power is slower.

Yes the boxster/cayman platform is accidental genius that many people have yet to realize because they look at the wrong figures. Both these owners are secretly enjoying what others have written off for years now. The value of the Boxster/Cayman platform is going to skyrocket soon but I'm just a random lol.

Anyone catch the mistake? Talking about 991.2 and all of them being Turbos. Yet showing video of a 911R. The 911R Is a 991.1 car based on the GT3 (narrow body) and is NA/non turbo. Engine based on the GT3RS from 991.1. Oh and it isn’t a “Carrera” variant either.😉

Incredible modern performance vehicles no doubt but if people were honest, who has the skills on or off the track to use anywhere near the performance of a modern 911? I’m firmly of the belief that I’d rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow (a 1970’s 911S would be my Porsche of choice). Not sure what it is about many super car owners today but with Porsche it seems to be, “look at me, my car is better engineered and faster than yours” whereas with Ferrari it seems to be “look at me, I’m richer than you” - neither a good image to portray. Maybe it’s the people where I live, but all the Boxster drivers seem to smile as I pass them whereas the 911 drivers seem to be far more serious - maybe something in that slower/faster car saying.

In every rule there is an exception, Porsche.

For people unfamiliar with brand the most valuable and most expensive Porsches are not the 911. Its the mid engine 550 Spyder. They go for millions and were legendary at races before the 911 was even a concept that could be raced. In fact the very first ever Porsche built was a mid engine two seat roadster the 356A No. 1. The whole putting the engine in the back was a very late to the show idea for Porsche. And the Porsches that will be raced in the future will all be mid engine cars.
