The Social Vision of William Blake

Why has the work of William Blake remained such a vital resource for dissenters, activists, and utopians? Michael Ferber, an anti-war activist during the Vietnam War and a defendant in the “Spock Trial,” is a leading expert on Blake. Coinciding with the Block Museum’s exhibition “William Blake in the Age of Aquarius,” Ferber will discuss and explore how the work of the Romantic poet and printmaker reveals the connections between imagination, belief, and action. Audience members will be invited to tour the exhibition following the talk.

Blake inspires consciousness to be illuminated and fixed on life giving visions casting out our shadow world of fear and nastiness which we hold so dear.
