The Six Types of Procrastinator - Which One Are You?

Procrastination has stolen countless hours of productivity from all of us at some point. But not all procrastination is the same - we all experience it differently.
In this video, Micah gives an overview of the six procrastinator styles he’s learned from Dr Linda Sapadin's and Jack Maguire's book on procrastination, the marvelously named: It's About Time: The Six Styles of Procrastination And How to Overcome Them.
So, if you’ve ever had trouble tackling a swamped to-do list or prioritising a cluttered workload, this is for you. We delve into each procrastination style one by one to examine their dark underbellies and discover what connects them all. We’ll help you identify which style you are and offer you tips and tricks to beat the procrastination beast.

I think I flip between a few depending on the task too. Or depending on the day sometimes 😅. But definitely have some defier, crisis maker and dreamer in there!

I think I am combination of the overdoer (too many projects!) and the perfectionist. But also, I always procrastinate, when I prioritize stuff like household etc. before my dream projects. I always block the time for it, but I always end up doing other things - cooking for the kids etc.

Couldn't agree more Miguel. It's interesting how we can sometimes change types over time too. I used to be in the crisis maker camp, but have thankfully managed to learn some tools to steer clear of it.

Yes, I even wonder if we choose/procrastination types change depending upon the task. For example, compare your tendencies when the task at hand is doing dishes, instead of writing a book. (maybe you don’t hate doing dishes, but I think you get my point.) I hate doing the dishes. My procrastination type while doing the dishes is “Godzilla” type. 😂

Definitely a lot that resonates with me in this video, I think I can flip between the different types depending on the task. Using Flocks has been a really good way for me to just get started on quite a few projects and everything feels easier once you just make a start.

Thanks Micah. Me? - Defier. Or the overwhelmed, is that the all or nothing? I find it very hard to prioritise or to organise not knowing where to start and then giving up or postponing while I get on with another task. I’m very untidy, and it upsets me. Also I procrastinate when I know what to do, have made effort in getting prepared and then I just kind of relish thinking about it but do nothing

Perfectionist is a bastardized term, but I not sure what’s better here. I know lots of people who claim “perfectionism” as a way to excuse their thorough concern or accurate qualifications. I’ve worked with people that claim such notions because they feel embarrassed in their other circles. It’s fun to think of other words, “ over maximizer” or maybe “Excess Meister” 😂 ❤️‍🔥 . Thanks for the vid.

For crying out loud, what on earth is this all about. All these things are happening all day and every day it’s what is called living and part of life.and using one’s common sense and thinking for one’s self.If you can think and work out a problem you don’t need someone to do it for you, unless it becomes a medical or mental problem in which case one would seek professional help.
