I am currently failing university because of procrastination. I thought i was just like everybody else, because at some point, we all procrastinate. But i realized mine is severe. And i do not even feel guilt any more. I got so used to failure. Not only uni, but on my relationships with people i also procrastinate. I feel hatred towards myself for letting this go on for so long. I stopped going to therapy and maybe that’s one factor. Procrastination became a coping mechanism. I’ve been watching your videos because i want to change my bad habits. Thank you for posting your series about procrastination.

Very welcome indeed. Keep looking for the deeper reasons. It's very rarely about any behavioral issue (not doing enough etc.). If you keep inquiring, you're more than capable of transcending this issue 🙏

Thank you very much for your videos! I am currently struggling to finish my thesis and surprised myself starting to procrastinate more and more as time goes by, running into all different kind of fears and way to avoid facing them ... watching your videos make me understand better and give me some resource to move on and acknowledge many things about myself, so I wanted to thank you! I hope to understand better with time ...

Hi Luca. If you can, try to read either my book or the 'Now Habit' by Neil Fiore. It could save you countless hours. Take care and very best of luck with your studies.

I may have a weird thought process which has lead me to procastination. Until the start of high-school, I was very productive, always started with homework right away and was a perfectionist. In high school, I started to put emphasis on subjects that I felt I could give my best in, and did ok in other subjects. But early on I determined my self value through grades. I thought that everyone else also valued that. But in uni I started to suffer under procastination, because I realized that no-one gives a crap about my grades and how smart I thought I was. At summertime I started working on a historical ship, where I got rid of my social anxiety and started realise, that I see value in me when I connect with people (before that I was quite lonely, but I didn’t know that myself). Also that I do well with work that needs to be done immediately. Now I’m on my last year in Bachelors and I don’t know I want to pursue a career in engineering, where productive values and deadlines are the most important things with which I struggle the most. I know I need to finish the degree, but I have no motivation, and also procastination makes it hard to finish homework on my standard. It’s like my inner productive child is a fraud and my inner laziness gives me reason to be lazy and procastinate in uni. Also I like to go with the flow, which moreover “justifies” procastination. If I don’t feel like starting right away, means it should not happen at all. And I don’t even know if my intellectual reasoning is a facade to cope with dealing anxiety followed by procastination, or is it a genuine worldview I have found for myself.

I'm definitely a level 2, I've heard that I need to have more self compassion. I have to do lists all over my books. I just don't follow through because I will over think so much I end up talking myself out of doing anything. I will clean half the house, take a break and procrastinate for days on end.

I love this 4-level model! I guess it fits not only for procastination but other issues as well. If you have a problem on the emotional level (trauma), cognitive work just does not help. This video is very helpful for me in my personal journey of healing.

I think this model gives me some ques to why some people just don't understand me. Because people who mainly have level 1-2 issues cannot really understand the difficulties of people with level 3-4 issues, especially not level 4. Another group who does not understand me, could be people who have a lot of heavy level 4 issues themselves, but they are just not willing or not capable to deal with them... I think your model helps me in communicating (or not communicating) with other people about my experiences.
