Ovens were lethal in Sims 1. A friend of mine recommended reading cookbooks to level Cooking to at least 2 before even touching one.

Your bills were probably inflated by the value of the decorations you stuck in the corner. Bills are based on total value of the lot.

A better way to get to zero dollars for starting with this type of challenge is to (IIRC) build walls then delete them, also putting down wallpaper and flooring and deleting that, too. I think you’ll still get back some money but it won’t be the same amount, it’ll be less. Or putting down water and deleting that, I think that’s more expensive

for future reference you can bring your money to zero by buying trees without increasing your bills like the statues do! LOVE the sims 1 content its still a bit hard to come by!

The car continuously honking at you is not a bug, if you don't get into your ride to work (this also applies to the school bus) it will sit there and honk until your work hours for the day have finished. Also, if you had multiple rides appearing at the same time (like a car + school bus) the first ride that arrived has to leave before any of the others are able to, so your sim's kids could miss school if the parent didn't go to work that day, and you'd hear all of the horns the entire time lol. Random good/bad phone calls are a HUGE part of nostalgia for the game, it brought a tiny bit of horror that shrank with each new iteration until it no longer exists in TS4. My favourite job of all time was the military career; when you get to level 10 your ride is a literal helicopter. Great hours, great money, easy to maintain. Btw, the microwave is way safer than the stove.

Those fridges with only snacks are intended as storage for food you grow in the garden If they are empty you only can get snacks. Their advantage is that the meals are free if you fill it up

Buying a bookshelf to study at least 1, preferably 2 levels of cooking is a must to avoid game endings fires

Oh definitely. I wouldn't get a stove until everyone in the household had at least Cooking 2. Until then, a microwave is usually safe enough.

Sims in the sims 1 can be easy to make friends with. A glitch from when they introduced interests is that all the OG sims didn't have any interest points. You just need to load all the sims households once so that they're given interests, that way when you chat with them they won't always be grouchy.

The "fridges" you keep buying that only had snacks are actually pantries, and they are for storing produce you can grow yourself or buy in Old Town (we're you can also buy pets)

The Sims was the first game that made me realize generational disconnect. My parents scolding me for my Sims using the bathroom. I had to sneak them in there if I was playing on the family computer and click away. I guess there's something to protect against perverse pixilated pooping I wasn't aware of. Who's head was in the gutter?

Oh god no, how absolutely dare your Sims use the bathroom? Definitely your parents... Myself, I knew that pink heart bed was a definitive no-no on the other hand 😅

A tip: before you ever let a sim touch a stove, have them learn at least one point in the cooking skill via a bookcase. I played this game so much as a kid and I noticed that sims with at least one point in cooking started drastically fewer fires than sims with no skill in cooking. that plus a fire alarm make it much, much less likely that you'll die via fire. This trick is something that became a habit and now even in newer sims games I still have my sim learn one point in cooking before making food even if it's less relevant to fire lol

I think the reason your bills are so high is because of the statues on your lawn.

Ah yes, now the proper sims are coming! Yeah, sorry no matter what one does in Sims 4 it will always be a shallow experience. I did enjoy that first video as the script was really really good. That was enough Sims 4 for me though. 1, 2 and 3 I have a lot more time for. :)

sims 1 had some fun game breaking bugs

Typing rosebud a hundred times... alright no need to call us out like that, we had to play with cheats back when we were younger because mods were too hard to install and the DLC hadn't come out yet =D. From memory the sims 1 and 2 are very similar in most ways, I think it was just a small graphical update with a few bug fixes etc, not the huge leap like sims 3 was, so it's not surprising you took to it so easily (and getting caught on fire is a right of passage). Also please do a second vid!

This a cool series idea...doing different challenges across The Sims 1,2,3,4. I only got to play one version so this is neat!

I like this. Can't wait for the next episodes.

I was 5yo when the sims 1 came out and it has been the main franchise I have played ever since.

i'd start by finding an agent and going to a showbusiness lot where you can sing and get a few bucks. i'd perform until sim is not in the mood. then i'd go to a lot where they serve free food for all celebs. first thing i buy is food and shower

Playground monitor is an insane job title.

Sucks about losing your save to that crash. That's the one downside to older games, autosaves generally weren't as much of a thing back then. All in all, though, I'd say this challenge lasted just about as long as it had interesting content, so I think it ended pretty much perfectly. Can't really complain about going out in a blaze of glory! Excited to see some Sims 2 runs. A far more forgiving game, largely untouched by the downward trajectory of the rest of the series.

as far as sims 3 can be considered it was touched but saved by time. now if only i can unscrew my mod pile. comedicly its got a LONG ass load time even with my rig thats old by modern standards but top of the line for sims 3

Thankfully sims pays you per day instead of once every month.

I'm about to date myself so hard, but I was in 5th or 6th grade when my brother installed it on the family computer. Made the mistake of introducing me to it, and played it for so long I missed the bus to school....because I was too busy having a better family virtually (really fucked up childhood, nuff said)

You needed an oven to make food, otherwise you can only get snacks from the fridge. You should always get at least a couple of points in cooking before using it though else... fire.

0:20 - The $73k for all sims 3 DLC is wrong. You got this from the Steam community post and this has been debunked (confirmed with your exact same number). Not a simp for sims or EA but I do hate incorrect info. Total cost for all sims 3 content is $1,925.19 - $2,595.19 - Still a lot but defo not 73k. Amazed you were not skeptical of this insanely large number.

There isn't a cheat... But there is a cc item. If I remember it correctly, there was an item, a toilet, that you could buy and 'flush your simoleons' It's ether from 'Simlogical' or 'Secret Society of Woobsha' (But I think it was simlogical) Simlogical will help with the pets, as they have signs that can stop stray pets visiting you. They also have signs to stop the buskers in old town. That's not a fridge, it's a pantry. It only holds crops, which is why you could only 'have a snack' As others say, it's the decor that's making your bills high. Even the trees may increase your lot's value. This is because you have all the packs. Likely 'the Sims collection' which EA put out as a single large (for Sims 1 lol) downloadable version. The fact you have strays means you have 'the Sims unleashed' which added pets, gardening and a whole other district called 'old town'. If you called the tram, to take a trip into the map, you could have visited the farmers market lot and bought seeds. (Tram is free by the way) With seeds, you could plant crops, live off snacks till they are grown, then harvest them to fill that 'pantry' and make food. Yeah, you should have bought the microwave or toaster oven to cook with, if you couldn't afford the fire alarm.

No need for the sass at 3PM on a Friday xDThis is the Sims 1 complete edition from Archive.org. If you are unfamiliar, you need a phyiscal copy to play it with no dlc, otherwise the patches for the game do not work unless you use the complete edition annnnnd you need the patches to do things like idk, record the gameplay for the video

You need to stop playing the Sims 1, it is the worst Sims game ever
