Hey man, love your channel and the way you lay everything out. I was wondering if there was a chance you could explain the theory behind music made with “5ths” patches. Like on synths, there are quintal sounds that basically double a mono melody that you play. I was just wondering how you would analyze or go about writing these kinds of melodies, because I feel like I can never tell if the I is actually a IV or if the V is actually a I. Sorry if this is nonsensical!

To be a bit more specific, I wrote something that includes a melody a fifth above another melody. If it’s in C Major then this doubled melody is treating G as its tonic and includes a G Flat note when the lower melody plays a B. How do I work this out? 😅😂

@@user-dnf83n0s8sg9u Thanks for the comment. It sounds to me like you are harmonizing a melody by fifths. Don't think about the song being in two different keys, think of it being in C major in your example. This video, not by me, is a good explainer : kzread.info/dash/bejne/nK6JtKqzed3AlJs.html. I hope that helps.

@@Kromiball yes so it's a minor progression? And also idk why this progression is not being spoken about despite its simplicity

I think a new years resolution could be to focus less on cliche 1 5 4 6 progressions and more on unique ones with non diatonic chords!

I've made plenty of videos with non diatonic progressions, I just wanted a basic progression to explain the point in this one.
