The Silky Zubat (270-33): Jessica-List Super Saw - Preparedmind101

I wasn't sure about the whole "non-folding saw" thing...till I tried it. The Silky Zubat will make you want to quit folding saws altogether. OK...I get that you might want them in a pack. But USING them compared to this saw is an entirely different story. This thing rules!

I love my Silky Zubat. It's a fixed blade saw. No joint to wobble or fail. Knife aficionados note how much more reliable / durable a fixed blade (full tang) knife is, as compared to a folder. You can make the same case for a fixed blade saw.

My grandma just bought me one of these for my birthday, comes in Friday, I can’t wait to use it at work. Gonna be trimming all our clients shit up for free (I’m wireless internet but have to trim trees a few times a week on average as clients trees often grow into the guy wires for the telescoping poles we install) I’m so stoked

I picked up a Zubat earlier this spring and the key to getting maximum work out of this saw is using the proper stroke. The teeth only cut on the pull motion, so you don't need to apply a lot of pressure when pushing the saw forward. Then you can really dig in on the pull and watch the sawdust fly. Great saw with much less chance for breakage than a folder.

I use the bahco superior 16 inch blade saw and love it. Costs about as much as the laplander, which is still a great compact saw option. Once you get used to carrying a fixed blade saw, it's not all that hard. I wonder when people will start making kydex saw blade covers.

I don't, and never owned a Bacho. At one time I wanted one for a good while, but never did buy one. I found a Fiskars Power Tooth folding saw in a local store, and opted to get it first. After that, I never really had to buy the Bacho. In fact I replaced the Bacho with Silky on my list of things to get. The Silky Zubat, and Gomboy 240 (large teeth) are now the ones I want, and will being getting sooner or later to replace my Fiskars Power Tooth.

Interesting Chris..A few questions here..What is the weight of the Zubat and also how much is the replacement blade? it looks to me that the pull is more aggressive then the push when you were using it cutting the wood. Also did the Zubat have any flexing when cutting?? Thanks Chris for the demo.

I have a zubat and an accel 210. The zubat is a fantastic tool, but I don't take it out in/on my pack anymore as it's just big. The 'sheath' is wonderfully designed, but it's heavy, and doesn't fit nicely in my pack when I have winter stuff in it. The folding accel has cured that problem. Also, I disagree with your chum calling it multi direction- any stuff it pushes out has already been cut, it's most certainly a pull. The curve of the blade also drags around the cut, possibly would push too, but the curve helps to pull the saw through the wood well.
