I don’t know what I like better? Seeing how the Corona saw eats wood, Or watching you work

Picked up the Corona saw the other day at Lowe's after watching this review. I was going to cut a few branches around the yard yesterday but the thing was so smooth and fast, I was able to expand my yard significantly by taking out the bottom branches (2-8 inch wide branches) of an overgrown pine. It's like a pocket chainsaw! Thanks Chris!

I purchased one of these several years ago, based on your review. All I can say is thanks. I have used this saw to prune my apple trees, accomplish bushcraft tasks, and process cooking fire wood. It does the job and is very affordable.

I bought mine just after this video was uploaded. I live in southern Arizona. This saw blows through mesquite (very hard wood) better than any other saw I've owned. My Corona stays in my wood processing kit with my Granfors Bruk Scandi forrest axe and my WKll bontoc. Way less expensive but hangs with any high end tool I own or have tried. Great product. I bought a Razortooth from Lowe's because of this video, and I am glad I did. I got it just for cutting fatwood, and was using a Coleman (junk). What a difference. I have since used a Bahco, but it cannot keep up. Great price, great saw.

I’ve owned the Corona for 2 years now. Love it. Easily processes 2” diameter logs and limbs. Very compact, sharp, ergonomic. A great functional tool and for under $20, you can’t beat it. Buy one!

OK, I'm sold. I saw David West using the Corona saw to strike flint and a ferro rod, and several other things. Very cool!

Man I love this saw! Lowes had them on sale in my area since they are out of season. Love my Bahco but this thing eats it's lunch! Thanks for the recommendation. The blades are actually the same thickness, just a little more flex because it's longer.

Great video on a great saw ! - I have used one for a couple years now. I made my sheath out of fire hose which is a great material - ultra durable and easy to work with.

I had the shorter Corona that I used for 5+ years before the edge finally went dull. I decided then to look for another saw and got the Razortooth. Love it. If I don't need a big-log saw this is the one for me. I also prefer a saw that cuts on the pull stroke. I find there are fewer binding issues.

Thanks for another great video, Chris. I've had a Laplander in my Amazon wish list for months, to eventually put it in my BOB. I think the next time I'm over at Lowes I'll throw one of these in the cart instead. Thanks for what you do to keep us all a little better educated. I like when I can just go purchase something at a brick and morter store instead of always having to order stuff online, like I would have had to do with the Bahco.

I’m sold. My Kobalt folding saw finally crapped out on me, and I’ve seen these Corona saws at Lowes. I didn’t think they’d be worth it for the price, but I’m definitely picking up one today. Thanks Chris. Your recommendations never steer me wrong.

Just got one this weekend and my grandson and I went to the woods to cut a few walking sticks for the family and this saw got it all done in under an hour. A big plus, you can get replacement blades at Lowe's also for around 10.00.

Great review Chris & Will !! Like yourself, seen Mark's (Eat Carbs) and John (Wingman115) reviews on the Corona Razor Tooth Saw after I had picked one up too, I have had it for awhile and it's solid! I've tried other saws and have settled on the Corona Razor Tooth Saw. The Corona is an excellent option when you really want to have a regular bow saw to use, but don't have that much room to carry it in or on your pack. The Corona with the Kydex sheath option you found will be a great option on a pack! I have guys who come to the course I help with each summer come to use my Corona Razor Tooth Saw instead of other options to construct shelters & process materials.

I have had a old smaller version of that forever. Cuts super fast and razor sharp.

Looks like I'm grabbing a new folding saw when I go shopping. I think the large curve helps with sawing. Plus the versatility of using two hands comfortable is great. -Eric

I've been using the corona saw for a couple of years now and I love it. Cuts like a champ and fantastic price. It's size almost makes having to carry a box saw unnecessary. May consider picking up that kydex sheath you demonstrated. A little pricey but may be worth the money.

Just this summer, I bought two of the exact same saw at a garage sale. One was almost new and one was somewhat used but still real good shape. 2 dollars a piece! They are an awesome saw. Dad wanted to cut a med size black walnut tree with about a 4-5 inch trunk. he went for the chain saw and by the time he got back, I had it on the ground and many of the limbs off. The Condor blade goes through wood like a hot knife through butter. You are correct, I have seen them in several stores around my location for very reasonable prices.

Chris thank you for this review! As soon as I saw it, I went straight to Lowe's and picked one of these up. I already have a Laplander. I need one of these for the house anyway. The Bacho Laplander is in my pack. I have a sheath for it made by Justin Wolfe. I will give this new saw a test in a few days.

I just ordered this saw through Wal-Mart and other camping supplies I needed to go in my backpack which I got from Camp Robinson Army National Guard base. I have almost all of what I need to go in the backpack except for the sleeping bag which I just ordered, a liner for my sleeping bad (ordered also), and more rope for use in the camp. I believe this saw will be a great addition to my supplies and why I ordered it. Several others also recommended this saw also and with you all loving it I ordered it.

Hi! Just ordered one online after doing some research and your vdo was the last review that convinced me. Can't wait to try it. By the way i work bamboos, can't see any comments on bamboo cutting. Bamboos come in different thicknesses and hardness, and tend to pinch blades. Tq for the great review.

After watching this video I decided to pick up a Corona. I cut a crab apple tree down in my back yard (with a chain saw) and processed the whole tree with the Corona. I have a bad wrist and torn tendons from the bone in my right arm and that wasn't even an issue. This thing cut great, no issues and smooth cuts. Highly recommended. thanks for the advice. Now that it's tested it will go in my kit.

I have one and it is a great saw. It is made for pruning and is perfect for carry and camp.

we were just talking about saws today and I was telling my brother about why this saw over the bacho and told him ever mark Rogers made a video a couple of year's back about how much more the corona saw was over the laplander. because I've been looking at a larger silky to replace my worthless bow saw

Idk if he still uses it, but think about it.. Landscapers use this saw every day all day for years. I have had multiple corona saws. Buy it and use it. You will not be disappointed. They are priced well. They work very well. Not some super luxury saw, but still my favorite. Can't beat it for the price. Even above the price it can hang.

I believe it's a push and pull cut going by the tooth design. That would make a ton of difference in comparing the saws.

just a side note chris the corona saw is a great ferro rod scraper to I have had mine for a lil while now and have cut some big logs with it n started fires it has a wicked 90° spine bubba

Not to mention it's a carbon steel blade and you can strike a spark from it with a piece of flint.

Thanks for the video. I saw you mention this one in another video if I remember and it inspired me to run down to Lowe's and grab one. I'm glad I did, everything you said in your video was accurate. I took it right out of the package and went sawing, it worked excellently. Top rating for ease of availability, price, and performance. 3 years later from the date of this video these are still under $20 at $19.98 standard price at Lowe's. The red plastic of the handle is a little "cheaper" feeling so I understand what people are saying, (but it's a sub-$20 saw so I also don't know what they're expecting) but I see that as a non-issue since the black rubber-like parts of the handle are in all the right places for grip and comfortable sawing. Excellent comparison to Moras. Works great for a great price. Is there "better" in terms of finish and polish if you want to spend exponentially more? Absolutely. That doesn't mean you're going wrong buying this though. I see Moras on sale for $12 sometimes when I'm ordering other things and I'll throw a couple in the cart just because, even though I have plenty of "better" knives too. Your obsess-about-every-ounce backpacker will probably prefer a smaller Silky or Bahco, but for around the home or as something to throw in your car to get work done? Top notch for the price. If I had to think of a complaint about it, it would be that this is a completely disposable item. The reason? The replacement blades literally cost as much as just buying a new one at $19.98 as well. Unless you developed a deep personal connection with your handle, when the blade needs replacement you're just as well throwing the whole thing out and picking up another off the shelf. That's a bit absurd to me.

Used corona saws for landscape company for years good working saw stays sharp for long time even after cutting trees roots in dirt

Awesome video. I am going out today to get one! I am very impressed.

I have been using the 10" Corona here in Mexico for over a year, and it cuts through live or dead Ironwood and Mesquite without a problem.

From having a great utilitarian design, to a very strong SK5 steel, this ergonomic saw does not disappoint! "What BIG teeth you have!!"

I'll say this as a landscape professional we use the corona hand saws and they cut like butter for a couple years. We use them multiple times a day and they just keep going. I personally have the shorter version in my pack.

When you put a saw set on it and tune up the tooth set for a slightly wider curf it really cuts then without all the jamming up!

I bought this after your video and as well have the Bacho Laplander .. the Corona hands down is a winner. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber.

Thanks for the review. My first pruning saw was a Corona fixed blade. Great saw but difficult to carry around and pack. I bought a Gerber folding saw... it's a "POS". I'm going to go back to the Corona. Whats important to me is ergonomics, effort and durability. I value your opinion more than any speed test or stroke count. Thanks for the review!

I recently bought the Corona because of this video. I bought it for cutting fatwood from downed pine trees (the limbs). I can't wait to try it. I was using a Coleman (Walmart) which is junk. the only thing I don't like about it is that the teeth can bite you when the saw is closed. The teeth are not completely covered when closed. Just have to be aware of it. thanks for reviewing it.

Prepared 101- really like your videos but need to comment on this one. First off, no need to exert all that energy going as fast as you can. Take an extra minute and let the saw do the work. It's safer, easier, and burns a lot less calories. It may take an extra 15-seconds but worth it...no doubt. Secondly, the weight of branch on the first cut caused it to bend slightly, allowing the saw to cut through it a bit more smoothly. The Bacho was tested on shorter stump that left a much tighter tolerance. Both are great saws, and I don't have a dog in this fight. I have the Laplander and it's always served me well. Just a couple thoughts. Keep up the great videos. William ~

FYI...Corona makes a 7" version if that matters, #7245 for the curved blade, and #7041 for a straight blade. Found 'em on Amazon. I have the 10" that I've used for several years. Your review is spot on.

Make sure to do a follow up video after some long term use..I've found they slow down/dull with extensive use quicker then a bahco or silky. But then again they're inexpensive so you can buy another

I bought my Corona 10" Razor tooth folding saw from Lowes in '12 and today its still the one.

I own a Bahco and Corona, and a Silky Same size as the Corona.#1 is the Silky (Worth the Extra money).#2 Corona Exc. Back up to the Silky (a really great price).#3 Bahco Very good Saw (but by the Corona)

Just ordered this one on Amazon during their amazon days and came out to $14.11.. Usually use a recip with a 12" diablo carbide pruning blade for certain jobs but if i ever get around to go camping or backpacking this would be a lot lighter haha. If i were out on an atv trail or something this would also be good to bring along.

Ever tried gomboy or katana ? Use it for wood to cook or to cut limbs where my truck won’t get scratched … does it cut both ways ? Silky only cuts one way but I love it going to get a katana.. love my silkys had it for yrs still sharp cut down decent sized trees

I bought one of these saws a couple months ago to include in my bug-out bag. I totally agree that it is a beast of a saw and I'm really happy with it. My only drawback is that when it's closed, the teeth near the tip of the blade enter into the lanyard hole. If you're using a piece of 550 as a lanyard, eventually the teeth will cut through it. But in my opinion that's a small price to pay for such an aggressive folding saw. You can always put a small carabiner through the lanyard hole and attach your 550 to that. Problem solved. I've used the Corona and the bahco extensively and I swear I think the bahco cuts better pound for pound. Even though its smaller it seems to cut just as well in my opinion. I've cut the same size wood with both.

How well has this blade held up. I own a Sven and it was to flimsy for me.

Watched your video just like I did for Jessica-x ($54.00) and crazy sharp and SCAXE2 axe ($38.00) and like you said I went straight to Lowes and picked it up for $19.00+tax for the ten inch blade and again very happy and some people are going on eBay and paying $ 34-36+shipping. Thanks for the good advise and tips.

I have used this same saw, for arboring and personal use for 9 years. The only thing that needs to be understood with each saw, is that there is a maximum sawing range on each saw. The longer the saw, the potential for whiplashing of the tip, or the bunching and wiggling of the saw handle in your hand (even for old hand saws). The actual maximum (and maybe less!) saw range of each saw is 1/2 that of the blade length. Take a look at Canadian Prepper's vid with that huge tree trunk wood-eater The Katana (big boys, huge toys!). There was so much whiplash, as he was overcompensating and whiplashing the blade and wiggling the handle. When he finally tasked that tree trunk, that godzilla was in its element and sawing without detriment. So for the Corona with its 10-12 inch blade (or any other saw ...), the maximum limb diameter of 6-8 inches allows 2-3 inches of outside saw range. Smaller limbs and branch diameters then give greater saw range. Using the blade on 1-2 inch diameters you start having a long saw range, but getting back into whiplashing and wiggling. So make these considerations of which saw, Bahco, Gomboy, Silky, Fiskars, Corona ... and the wood diameters that you will be cutting in the outback. The same for the designated teeth (large teeth = green wood, small teeth = dry wood). Kerf teeth spacing (pull chips from the kerf cut, and kerf width (displaced teeth making larger cut line, allows easier sawing, than tiny blade, straight teeth and binding/pinching cut from the cut. Bahco is a thin blade, medium-small teeth, no kerf teeth displacement, and best at small diameter dry wood. Fiskars (needs redesign) is a thin blade, large teeth, no displacement, and best for small diameter green wood. The Corona has a (modest) thicker blade, large and medium teeth, no displacement, and works best in green wood, and good in dry wood. Look at each product's teeth by laying it on its spine. Many old-design saws are 90 degree teeth grind to the blade (old wood hand saws). New teeth designs are angular grinds, whether pull, push, or push-and-pull. Bahco is a diagonal grind. FIskars is moving to an angular grind. Corona is an angular grind. Gomboy is ????. Silky is ?????. Depending on whether these are a pull grind, a push grind, or a pull-and-push grind, you will have only a single row of diagonal teeth, ... or a double row of teeth. Teeth cutting-edge facing backwards (pull), and teeth cutting-edge facing forwards (push) are single row teeth. They look like triangular teeth. The teeth will appear to have a single row of teeth appearing from one side of the blade. Teeth cutting-edges with backwards and forwards grinds are a double row of teeth. You will see a row on the left and right side of the blade edges. They look like diamond or lozenge teeth. A perfect pull-and-push cutting edge will have the center area barren of teeth (as in the Corona) and this allows the chips to be more easily removed from the cut. The other designs move the cut to the sides of the blade and cut, part of the issue of pinching/bunching and binding of the blade in the wood. The Gomboy looks like a thicker blade, and depending on its teeth size, and grinds, is either a green wood, dry wood, or combo, ... and a pull, push, or pull-and-push blade. The Silky saw and its design also needs to be detailed for its best use. The best of these options must be taken into consideration of what and who you are going to cut in the woods ... dry wood for fire tinder, fire wood, and construction timbers ... or green wood for construction, and eventual fire wood. For me, I have been a Corona pruner (hand saw) and the 6-10 foot lopping saw user for 9 years. Goes through green and dry wood. And the smaller saw, when bushie-prepped onto a wood limb, can also become the same overhead lopping saw in the outback.

+betweenfiveandseven That is also another design issue with saws. straight saws, curved blade saws. and yes all that applies. That is the saw range that is optimum, maximum, and then overextending the saw range and not making any cutting headway at the handle and the tip. Bahco is straight. Gomboy looks straight. Fiskars is kinda straight. Silky is ????. Corona is curved. Curved blades in the outback are far greater in utility than straight blade, as you mention. If you are going to do anything bigger than 4 inch diameter, then you are cutting for fire log fuel or log cabins !!! So folding saws are only for 4 inch or less fire tinder, small fire wood fuel, or small construction log material. Anything bigger than 4-6 inch to tree trunk diameters should then consider their 12 - 24 inch bucksaw or bow saws. Again, optimum saw range for those 12-24 inch are 6-8 (maybe 10) inch - 12-14 (maybe 16) inch diameters. Anything bigger, ... get an axe, grow some brain cells (!), or find a smaller frigging tree to cut down! We are bushcrafters, woodsmen, and preppies, not professional chainsaw, or 2 man-handled (old) 4-5 foot tree saws. The Katana is optimum only for tree trunks making logs, or log stumps. The biggest issue for a bushie or preppie is a bug out (folding) saw, bushie saw (folding, buck, or bow saw), or a base camp saw (axe, large buck or bow saw). What are you going to put into your EDC, your 72 hour, or are you going to be a lumberman at a base camp felling trees? If not, then intelligently down size to an EDC model.

I dont own any other saws, so I cant really compare them. But I LOVE my Corona saw. It works great.

I'm shocked nobody complained that the Corona had an advantage with the longer blade. Anyway, I own the Bahco and Corona in the same blade length and totally agree the Corona cuts better. I think a part of it is because of its slick and smooth finish whereas the Bahco has that powder finish. I wish they'd take a lesson from Schrade and go to a teflonish finish on the next model. I still take the Bahco on my backpacking trips though since it packs better. Maybe I should try to strip that finish. Another great advantage of the Corona is its ease to open and close when wearing gloves.

They have Bahco saws without the finish, just without a green handle and the Laplander name.

Im looking for a better saw Im curently using a crappy colman saw. How would you compare those two saws to the colman folding saw?

I liked this saw for the price was praising, it just broke on me yesterday the nut that holds the blade just fell out and lost it. Was fun for the year it lasted but going to get a smaller Silky to go with my Katanaboy 500.
