The Shocking Reality Behind the Girl's 'Perfect' Life 😱

Hi I’m Aurikatariina and I deep clean my followers' homes for free! ❤️
Today were are back in Sweden!! This lovely girl niki asked for my help and told me that she was hopeless with the state of her home. As soon as I saw the pictures I wanted to go here right away! I flew here with Maiju from Sinicleaning, Sini also sponsored our trip back and forth which is so nice. Today we cleaned the kitchen which to my surprise had soo so much rotten and moldy food and just wait until you see the fridge. I mean it’s no surprise that I love mold and grime but this fridge was something else. We also left some beautiful gifts for niki that she can keep the home clean in the future.
Bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, living room cleaning, Organizing, deep cleaning, Washing, before and after pictures, satisfying results.

the part where you said she just one day "woke up" to the situation hits home for me. One day I woke up to 2 rooms in my house trashed, and dishes, trash, old food, and mouse poop all over my kitchen counters. My mental health had taken a massive hit about 6 months prior, and I just *woke up* to all that mess one day. It's so freaky how our brains work.

Absolutely, our brains try to minimise things when we are already under a lot of stress, so it will minimise things that aren’t an immediate priority. But it builds up and creates a bigger problem. I’ve been through it too, got 2 chronic illnesses that come with a host of symptoms and very bad mental health, keeping my place clean and tidy is an unwillable battle for me. The only way is to get help but I can’t afford it on a regular basis. And that’s the case for many like us.

For me the waking up meant I was getting better. Depression was a state of feeling nothing so to feel shame or revulsion at my home meant I was now feeling and could do something about it. Up and down for 28 years. (I started keto diet for weight loss and no longer suffer from depression as an added bonus).

Exactly what I was going to say- I mean it’s an incredible amount of work anyway but to create something like that and age all the stuff and mould… and then clean it all?!! I wonder what they do if film studios ever set scenes in a hoarded house… I bet they would have to rent a location either where a tenant left or if they paid well and/or cleaned up afterwards… most people are too embarrassed. Idk health and safety and the logistics of filming/acting in such a space… 🤔

I think those who accuse Auri of staging these messes just can’t believe how good it looks in the end, which is a testament to what a great job she does. Auri has the experience and “know how” to clean efficiently and in a timely manner. There is a system to her approach and she can envision what it will look like before it’s done. Her explanations of how she cleans a stain or mess makes sense when broken down into steps. Auri loves to clean and that desire helps people get back on the right track. Kudos, Auri!

It would be way harder to fake this than it would be to find someone whose house is in this condition. Imagine going through all of the effort to dirty all of this stuff or find garbage and scatter/meticulously arrange it to appear as if someone has been living their routine in it for years. BS, nobody is doing that. It’s way easier to believe that people’s houses simply got dirty because they couldn’t keep up with it due to life stress, mental health issues, disability, or aging. And you should be grateful that it isn’t you, because there but for the grace of god go all of us.

People claim “house staging” because they’ve never had a mental illness themselves so their compassion is lacking. Mental illness turns you into someone you don’t know but your looking from the inside out for help. It’s invisible to them. I have an invisible illness that’s an autoimmune disease. I know what Nicki is going through. That crisis hit me in 2016. It explained so much of my mental illness because my illness attacks my brain. People lack the understanding just how debilitating it is and because they rely on their own experiences. On top of my illness, I was diagnosed with OCD but I don’t hoard. It takes a lot to overcome it day to day. It feels like you’re always battling a monster that doesn’t let up. If you’re reading this and relate, you’re not alone. Everyone battles something the world cannot see. I hide it well. I look very put together and successful but I can mask my pain. Those of you saying these things, please stop. You are hurting us who feel invisible and trapped. I’m glad Auri sees people because that’s the beginning of moving out of the shadows.

This kind of dirt builds up for years and RUINS a home. The trash and food bring mold and bugs, and destroys furniture and floors. No one would ruin an entire house or apartment for a video like this, no one would have the time to let this stuff sit and rot long enough to look like that for regular uploads. Having worked in social work before, I can absolutely attest that people very much do live like this. I’ve also struggled myself with severe depression, (previously) undiagnosed adhd and health issues. And while my home has never reached this level of mess, taking care of my home was absolutely impossible at times. I would just sit on my couch and disassociate into tv shows and try to block out all the mess, while feeling absolute shame and overwhelm at how bad it was getting. Finally getting into therapy, working on my health, and getting medication to help treat both my depression and adhd have done wonders for me. Thank you Auri for the work you do. You are truly making a difference in this world, both for your clients and your viewers. Abusers start like that. A little yell, a little shake, a little push, seeing how far that boundary is. They pick out their mates to not be strong, they want to demolish them, so they feel better about themselves. The circle of abuse starts....the abuser hurts....then appologizes...... then will be really nice.....then abuse again. If anyone is in this type of relationship, get out and get them help. It will continue to get worse no matter how much they apologize or are nice to you for a short while. They either enjoy doing this or cannot control their actions, so both require outside help. I went through a short relationship that started heading this route, but the person ended up beating up a group of police instead while being taking out of the house.

It's true. I lived this way for 10 years, now 5 years later I have cptsd. When lockdown happened, I shut down. DV court with my abuser ended a couple weeks before lockdown. I was a clean freak prior to all this, now there is clutter, it's not dirty, but I understand where stuff like this starts. Trauma. I am watching these videos and others to get the clutter out, stop buying things for dopamine hits, eat better and get motivated to clean. My sister has living conditions almost as bad as this. I used to clean for her and never understood why she "chose" it. She didn't. She had trauma as well (horrible divorce). I would clean it and it would come right back. Now I have physical issues (need both knees replaced) and depression, it takes all I have to walk the trash can down our long rural driveway on trash night. I am doing the 1 bag system. If I do 2, bonus. I am in therapy, it's clean but the clutter feels paralyzing and must go. It is like abuse. It creeps in slow and one day you are like who the hell am I???? My abuser was convicted, but the damage, loss of dreams etc is long lasting. We share a child so I can never be 100% free of him. He has visitation. NY has strong father's rights, even after DV. I had a 3 yr restraining order. I no longer do and live in constant fear. Some days just existing is a challenge. I am exhausted all the time. I understand this so much better now. 5:26 "Diskmedel" = Dish soap or washing-up liquid. The dish soap she is pouring in, "Yes", is actually "Fairy". When it was launched in Sweden in early 60s, they chose to call it "Yes" in Sweden instead of "Fairy". I have arthritis in my knee and last year developed problems with my back, and type 2 diabetes. Everyday is painful, even just getting up and walking. Thanks to the back problem, some days I have to skip taking the dog out, or shorten his walks. I can keep on top of stopping rubbish from accumulating in my home, but dusting, hovering, changing/washing the curtains, mopping the floor, cleaning tiles, etc, is a problem. I don't think the size of the home helps if it is small, because to clean counters properly in the kitchen, everything has to be moved and there is no where place items when there isn't a lot of cupboard space to put things away. Fortunately, we are moving soon to a bigger home so I am hoping that the extra storage space will help out a lot. Another problem I find is getting stuff fixed - even when you are living in a council home (in the UK), it takes ages for the council to do repairs that they are responsible for doing, or sometimes they don't even bother with it and it's just left.

Our oven had gotten pretty bad. The heat index here in the American South has been as high as 122°. So, I wasn't going to use the self cleaning mode in the oven. I'm disabled from a truck rear ending my mom and I. I have painful Whiplash Syndrome so bending down, squatting, etc. is too hard for me. And, lifting my neck is impossible. So, I used your trick of spraying oven cleaner and putting plastic wrap over it. I let it sit for about 36 hours. I removed the plastic and started wiping and WOW!! I barely had to scrub. I only had to use the scraper on a couple of spots. So, I didn't have to strain too much to clean it. My brother was able to reach the spots I couldn't.

My nephew's wife and I cleaned our friend's kitchen and it took us 3 Sundays to completely clean it all. We cleaned all the cabinets and drawers, organized everything and it was such a good feeling once it was all done and to see our friend happy. We are taking this Sunday off and then we'll be back to help with the other rooms. The bathrooms are all very clean and the rest of the house is very dusty and unorganized so I'm hopeful the cleaning won't take as long as the kitchen. Love your videos and all the helpful tips! Incredible job Auri, the kitchen looks amazing. A sad reality of a home smelling like rotten food (especially in a small apartment) is that everything smells. Most people don't realize that smell gets in your clothes, bedding, hair and people can smell it on you. Now that Auri has eliminated the source, things should improve greatly for this young woman. God bless you Auri!

A lot of people who think the houses are staged or fake are most likely suffering from shock. It really is unbelievable that people would live like this. I've never witnessed this myself and I am a psychiatric nurse that did house visits! Of course they were weekly ones. The only thing I would notice are stacked dishes, garbage not taken out, overflowed recycling, food containers open, and laundry piled up. These can be normal occurrences. I observe the smells the most. There is a certain scent of depression that makes it easier to detect something is wrong. Of course the patient's hygiene as well. I have never seen it to the extent of your videos. I have to say WEEKLY house visits make it easier to intervene faster. I am certain in your videos these places go for months to years of not cleaning.

@@craftyhobbit7623 I agree. I remember when they wanted to cut the visits to once monthly and it didn't last long. The decline in the mental state of the patients was severe. The government thought it would save money but instead it costs more. The patients had to be hospitalised and needed more psychiatric visits/consults or worse some ended up homeless! People with chronic and severe mental health issues require more care and guidance. It costs a lot less to spend more money on mental health. It saves money on the healthcare system, incarceration, homelessness and crime.

Dear Auri, you are such a beautiful soul and I believe that you help people in many more ways than you might know. Personally, I keep my home clean and tidy. Due to my PTSD a sense of control is incredibly important to me and keeping things in order helps me get that sense. However, it is impossible to live in a home or just get through live in general without the tiniest bit of chaos. When I get overwhelmed the tiniest dirty spot can make me feel as if my life was spiraling completely out of control and something catastrophic was about to happen (e.g. me accidently killing someone or burning down the apartment complex). I don't want to shame anyone with a messy home but if my home looked like those in your videos, it would be a nightmare come true. It would mean that I had actually lost control. Your videos help me because they show me that "losing control" is reversible. A mess can be cleaned and you don't have to do it on your own. Chaos does not have to end in catastrophy. In fact, why should it? In short, you help me keep more calm in stressful moments and I have no words for how thankful I am!

Thank you Auri & Sini for the incredible work you do. It's wonderful of Sini to cover your trip! If I were Niki I would have wanted to give you a HUGE hug but I can understand how she was feeling embarrassed. I wish her all the very best and hope her situation improves. Once again, Thank you Aurikatariina! x

Excellent work (as always!!) but I do wonder one thing. When it comes fridges and microwaves (and possibly other appliances that deal with food): some houses have EXTREMELY foul fridges, full of bugs and flies and deadly bacteria; sometimes bleach of steaming it isn’t enough and the fridge/appliance is seen as a health hazard. Do you ever advise the people who you work with to buy a new appliance because it’s simply not safe to use it anymore, no matter how much bleach/chlorine/industrial cleaners you use?

Nikki has a lovely home. I hope this is a turn around for her and she is able to keep looking up and get better! Her past was super rough for sure. My heart breaks for her. It’s no wonder she fell so deep into such executive dysfunction. Lots of love for Nikki and for you Auri for the amazing things you do!

I hope you put a candle or scent right before they enter because for some reason the scent will always bring back the memory of how happy and peaceful they felt when they first arrived home. I have a bit of anxiety but scent makes me remember to not freak out. After I clean or organize I turn on a candle and feel refreshed. It makes me calm down and remember that the room inside the house is clean enough and I don’t have to take the stove out of the outlet to clean the back wall, the back or sides every freaking time. Sounds crazy but my mind works this way.
