The serious business of comedy | Aditi Mittal | TEDxIIFTDelhi

Aditi talks about her unconventional career choice, the mistakes she made and the lessons she learnt on her way to recognition. She talks of the most satisfying and dissatisfying aspects of her career path by laying emphasis on the power of the audience’s opinion. Lastly, she encourages all to get their respective stories out there because no democracy can ever exist without dissent.

Rarely do we see a woman stand up comedian inspire us with her success story in India, the land of thousand goddesses and the crowd couldn't even give a roaring applause for her beautiful speech!

For all those who don't realize - tedx is not a comedy platform. Aditi was on the stage to inspire people, not do stand up comedy. I wish people were more open to the concept of assuming different roles in different settings.

Irony is that when a stand up comedian is actually making people laugh on a Tedex talk, people point fingers on them for not inspiring and just doing comedy and here they expect her to make us laugh whilst ignoring all the wise words.

Contrary to popular opinion, I quite enjoyed this talk. It was getting to know her and her decisions. Most importantly she spoke of freedom of speech, so she if she's been given the TEDx stage, let her speak about whatever she wants (I know i would).

to all the haters, aditi mittal's talk was good laughable n enjoyable...n to all it didnt seem like a ted talk...do u evn knw what a ted talk is...a platform to voice ur thoughts ideas n experiences...she just did that...I applaud her for being able to stand proud as one of the best stand up comedians in india where men cant let a woman grow...he chops off her wings evn before she learns to fly...n to pple sayin she wrngly quoted frost...she meant she took the less chosen path because to her that path was the only one she could see...she was born to b different n is proud of it...so again to all the pple who say this talk sucked...first try doin a stand up comedy..get booed on stage n if u still hav the courage to go back..then talk!!

i love you aditi mittal :) i have never heard such a brilliant ted talk before. a real talk, based on humanism, on the perspectives of a pure heart that hangs in there, unlearning what it has been taught by making the so called mistakes . the philosophical idea behind the alarm clock song, AMAZING!

@AditiMittal People have a lot to say be it positive or negative. She makes the certain section of our audience cringe, because she hits too close to home. No comedian I have watched had 100% watchable content. That’s how writing works. You have some very intelligent humor hidden in the “liked by the masses humor”. Good job Aditi, you all comedians are breaking several ceilings that needed to be broken. And again only at 6.00 minutes but enjoying this TEDx. Btw tedx isn’t comedy show people.
