Exactly, it fills in a side of ad mech, more like an overpriced booster pack, but adds greater diversity along side a combat patrol as a compliment, and in an ideal world, priced at £60(even that is pricey for the strenght of the units) . Nothing in that new combat patrol could stand on its own against other existing ones, it would get wiped out by the dark angels CP box alone, so is it going to even face Drukhari, aeldari ect in a CP match up?

The way they price their stuff is just nuts. It's expensive to begin with, it's not based on the amount of plastic in the box, it's not based on the amount of points in the box, it's all the same across the board regardless of how different the products are... it's so insane. A box of 3 Eliminators costs the same as a box of 10 Intercessors. 5 Flayed Ones are 60 dollars for something like 50 points in models. The Admech CP costs the same as the Custodes and are so different it's laughable. Nothing makes sense beyond "this is what we think we can get away with."

Indeed, i have not played a single game of 10th only for the sole reason, that my army points have been so harshly butcherd that i don't want to spend a tone of money to get back to the level of points i was or i aimed for. My Sisters are only 800 points right now and i wanted to add 1 or 2 characters to boost the SoBs... but 32,50€ for a Dialogus which is worth 30 points? Hell no. After the most expensive podcast episode i have even less desire to play 10th, since 3 of my 4 armies are in the top 5 most expensive ones... the only one thats not is my mish mash of Raven Guard containing of some cool models and a whole bunch of "mini of the month" minis and they are right now worth more points then my Soros.... ffs.

Eric just effing nailed Tchaikovsky's name, dead on the head. Like, it's not even close enough, this is exactly how it's pronounced.

Brief note: my Tyranid Wishlist item is Gaunt squads that either have Torrent weapons or just are meant to kamikazi and explode

What I got out of it was that AdMech are the real 40K Skaven. Literal tons of them around and have high tech of dubious capability that neither can explain coherently to another sapient being.

funny enough, ad-mech might win. custodes fields only part of the box, 2 5girl squads, one with bolters and one with swords, a captain (with sword), and either bikes or guradians (with a very weirde weapon combo).

I'm honestly impressed by GW's ability to make the Admech patrol even worse. I didn't expect that if I'm honest seeing as it was already one of the worst (both for regular 40k value and for Combat Patrol gameplay wise).

I'm biased because I have about 6k points of Night Lords, but I can'r recommend the Night Lords omnibus enough. There's a hint of bolter porn, but it's hands down the best example of humanizing the Traitor Legions.

I have to say, if you are looking for a book for book club I cannot recommend reading (listening) Assassinorum: Kingmaker. Its got a multitude of assassins. knights, chaos stuff, politics and drama, and is just super well written. 10/10 I liked it almost as much as the Infinite and the Divine.

I actually super recommend the space wolf books. At least the first one. Its pretty interesting because the majority of the book is written from the perspective of Rangar blackmane before he becomes a marine and Fenris is a like backwater viking planet where warring tribes fight over what small strips of land are there. You get interesting snipets of Ragnar not understanding what a gun is and describing the weapon of a marine they're taking across the sea as strange talisman just before a deafening boom and blinding flash it plups the brain of a sea dragon which of course must make the marine a great sorceror 😂.

So something I realised the Ad Mech box is that to play Combat Patrol you have to build the units as they are on the box. Which means, with exception of the Arc Rifle and Plasma Caliver two of the Vanguard have, the entire box hasn't got a ranged weapon that shoots further than 18 inches. A Shooting army btw.

Tchaikovsky was pronounced correctly....can confirm.

Feel like the issue with skaven in 40K is that the factions key points are kind of being taken up by other factions. Crazy inventors with ludicrous weapons and machines: orks Massive empire just bellow everyone’s feet waiting for it’s time: necrons Impossibly large horde: nids The slinking threat just beyond the shadows: GSC Impossibly bad conditions and unimaginable suffering as a part of daily life: most factions 99% of the time The only things that would be uniquely theirs if ported to 40K are having their own god, being drug addicts, and being rat men. Almost everything else would fall into “oh like faction X?”

Or even just some bugs that curle and roll across the battlefield. Maybe a centipede style bug that rapidly closes in as an armoured wheel then uncurles to bite ya or spit fire or drop a grenade it was curled around.

Fabius bile and night lords is the 2 best chaos trilogies in my opinion.

A book recommendation from me is another book by Mike Brooks, Huron Blackheart: Master of the Maelstrom. A shorter novel on one of the more underutilized character in 40k imo. Pretty good, gives a different view of what being the head of a group of CSM is like, with all of the internal politics and logistical challenges you would expect from basically being pirates in space. It's like a 6 hour listen, so if you have a particularly long trip for this upcoming holiday season you may be able to knock it out by the time you get back home.

Oh I was absolutely going to the previous episode to see if they already did that one, so I'll co-sign that suggestion. My absolute favorite part of that book is how it expertly shows how effortlessly tempting the Chaos gods are in ways that are surprisingly subtle and yet it still shows what an absolutely TERRIBLE idea it is to fall for them.

I'd love to see a episode going over the combat patrol format and the CP boxes in regards to the format and just your general views on it.

Fall of Cadia was the old The Gathering Storm campaign. I just listened to a fan reading of all the lore into basically an audio book. on youtube there are a couple good ones.

As far as numerous expendable bodies and sneaky tactics, skaven do exist in 40k. they're called genestealers. Now I need big electric genestealer doom-wheels.

They could of added the ElectroPriest in the Admech combat patrol, it would have been at least a new to box unit, and one that hasnt been seen in a bit.

Remembering that Brad listens to audiobooks and says he's going to listen to Fall of Cadia: I'm so sorry. The book is probably fine, but I tried listening to it and the voice they chose to use for Trazyn and Cawl might be a dealbreaker for you. (The Fabius trilogy's Trazyn wasn't my favorite but it worked well enough. This one turned him into a Dalek and it hurts)

if you're a $3 or up patron you have access to a master patron rss feed that should include every single audio episode we've ever produced starting at the end of Season... 3? of Solely Singleton. This feed is where all the bonus content is posted between recording seasons (sometimes mid season too.) It should be completely backward unlocked when you sign up, giving you dozens of hours of stupid bonus footage (some is extremely low quality by our modern standards, but it's there if you want to listen to it all.)

Tbh, I feel like GSC could very easily be the skaven-like faction if given a bit more attention and love I feel like if you wanted to include the skaven, they’d have to be some kind of Web-way entity, just so they can keep their far reach and hidden nature- but that would require GW to care about the Web-way beyond just being a plot device

I just finished the Bile's trilogy last week, and it was simply amazing, never felt lost or bored, story point was clear and great by far my fav 40k book for now

I do have to say, as someone who never intends to play ad-mech, that box is perfect for me. It has every model ive ever wanted for D&D, and im here for it.

for the tyranids ive always liked the idea of a giant bug, based off an actual insect like a tyranid giant centipede or something, would be a nightmare to paint but would look pretty cool.

Still gonna suggest Reaper paints as a solid option for really good quality paints, especially their metallic paints. They've got a rose gold that's just gorgeous and works great for painting up super special guys in your armies. gives just the right amount of "shoot me first" look to a model.

I've heard a few channels by or talking to folks who used to work for GW suggest that the company has a significant left-hand-not-talking-to-right-hand issue. The AdMech combat patrol feels like it fits into that, where you have things being locked in for production nine months ago based on a particular production and shipping cost target - and then the rules team making the models less valuable as they scramble to band-aid a balance problem. Also, I never listen to audiobooks because they put me in a position of either I miss important details and don't know what's going on, or I have to sit around doing nothing except listen to it. Also, they take *forever* - I can read much faster than audiobook narrators do, because reading aloud is *always* slower. The only real advantage I've ever come up with is I could listen to it whilst waiting for the bus in winter - assuming I could hear it over all the 18-wheelers roaring past. So I'd much rather just, y'know, read. Although I suppose if I ever run out of KZread documentaries/podcasts to listen to whilst I paint an audiobook might fill that niche. I know all y'all don't actually care about my entertainment choosing process, but this is how parasocial engagement works.

It was great hearing some ideas to effectively buying for and building up a nice starter army to jumpstart my collection. Or the episode showing off Brad's Drukhari got me pumped to finish painting some Incubi. I would seriously be excited for every single faction to get it's own episode in time if you guys are ever out of ideas for content

I highly recommend "Kingslayer" Loved reading a book focused on assasins and imperial knights.

If you read one 30k book read Know No Fear. Self contained and amazing. You go from 40k where Ultramar is 8 worlds and Calth is uninhabitable on the surface, to 30k where Calth is the shining paradise of the 500 worlds and just think... oh shit. And then the strike cruiser accelerates to lightspeed in atmosphere.. and it's like ohhhhh shiiiiiit

I personally use the 40k app because it helps my brain to have pictures of the units so I can better visualize the army, but I then immediately recreate it on new recruit so it is actually usable when playing

33:55 for context the Champaign book was an interactive Champaign book. Where the player would decide the fate of caidan gate by play Warhammer and reporting it to a gw website. Ultimately it ended with a stalemate with cadia being the only planets being left loyal being cadia if remembered right, and not destroyed. Also eldrad was originally supposed to die in this event by being killed in a trap set up by slannesh themselves.

My personal missing / future faction is “” Chaos Cults””. In books like the Eisenhorn trilogy you have single human rogue psychers dealing massive blows to sectors, aristocratic families secretly owning a demon in the basement, and rogue inquisitors controlled by godlike demons. Meanwhile the bowels of chaos ships are filled with highly unique mutants and followers, there are even mutants that are practically beast men, hooves, goat heads and horns etc, with laz guns. Abbadon makes a habit of arming and recruiting the imperiums prison worlds as an opening gambit inside a sector to gain millions of fodder units. It seems to me in books regular humans going rogue is a massive problem, and it would add so many wrinkles to the imperium in contrast. You could actually see the power on offer within chaos, how it could be your liberation or your doom if you learn its secrets as just an average citizen. The imperium is trying to maintain control constantly on so many levels, it would make them much more interesting by contrast. So yeah have an anti imperial guard ! Chaos Cults! Horde army with witches and warlock psycher units, unique demons as elites, mutant hordes, corrupted guard, warped servators, as special troop units : D heck maybe they even have just a single souped up chaos marine lording over them, when you see a single CSM in the eisenhorn trilogy it’s an “ oh shit” moment. All in all as it stands we have about… 3 options for cultists if you’re being generous, and if you have a warlock it’s a warlock in power armor. Let me have a liberated astropathic choir bring down meteors from the sky dang it !

Didn’t even mention dark mechanicum. Every dark mech priest has a robot skull for a head, a knife legged spider body, or way too many arms :p also also chaos navigators battle out with everyone else much more. Some of them are just melting people with their third eyes, some are gestalt consciousnesses plugged into every system of their ship

I recently found some omnibus from a thrift store. The blood angels, ultra marines and imperial guard. I decided to read the imperial guard one first and it is really fun and really the first warhammer book I've read. I've been a fan of warhammer for a while but this was the kick that got me to start reading the books instead of the wiki and youtube videos.

Get your genestealer cult combat patrol now before it gets changed out if you plan to cause that thing is worth it

In case you ever read comments on month old videos: the incomplete trilogies 'Bequin' and 'The End and The Death' are extremely good so far. If you like being teased by cliff-hangers, read them now. Otherwise look out for their endings to come out and read them. TEATD volume 3 is in a few weeks I think.
