We have always had tile and a clear glass shower door. Both my husband and I use a squeegee after every shower. Never have a problem with soap scum. My shower looks just like new because we both take good care to squeegee after every shower. I have not had any problems for 12 years. Shower still looks like new.

After deep cleaning your shower, use a "Ceramic Coating" typically used for car paintwork. I applied this on our shower 2 years ago and the glass still looks brand new today. Not 1 single water mark or soap scum.

For some time, due to mental health and physical constraints, my shower wasn't cleaned as regularly as it should have been. I then began using a squeegy but could not bend or squat properly to doe the floor so I switched to using a towel which seemed to work but I still have an issue with bending etc. I then found a small head mop with extending handle and microfibre removable pad and that has been a game changer. I don't have to bend and just squeeze out the pad, using a second one if necessary and reuse them a few times before machine washing. The glass and tiles are cleaned without effort. I do have some permanent hard water stains on the glass but it is clean which is the main thing.

Don't want to use baking soda, this is a rental, I would feel terrible to scratch the glass, any thoughts? Thank you..

We always squeegee our shower after use (last one to shower does the job) and the wipe down with a good micro fibre cloth to make sure round the taps and corners are dried and I only clean the shower not even monthly just to clean the grooves where the shower door runs (we live in a hard water area), sooo much easier and it always looks so nice and clean and takes less than 5 minutes 😃✨✨

This is just fantastic... WhiteVinegar&DishSoap = completely soap-scum-free glass doors AT LAST : I've tolerated the last four years with so-so clear glass door and screen. I sprayed, left it for 15 minutes, spread the mixture around lightly with a household sponge and rinsed the lot off. What surprised me was that the process didn't generate a never-ending load of soap suds to wash away from so much dish soap [washing-up liquid, as we say in the UK!]. It was so easy! Now, the glasswork is just like the day the new shower area was installed. Brilliant - very many thanks.

Our rule is to squeeze or dry the shower after every use. I then scrub every few days - at least once a week with vinegar and dish soap mixture. I use a dish scrubber that allows the mixture in the handle, dedicated to the shower. Just easier for me than another spray bottle. I also work on the glass shower door every six months car windshield stuff designed to make rain run off quickly. Seems to help with the glass.

The glass manufacturer added a coating and I can’t use a squeegee or it could scratch it and void the warranty. So we use a squeegee on the tile and microfiber cloth on the glass. I also thoroughly dry the faucet and all metal. It’s been 9 months and it looks like new. I never imagined I would stick with this routine, but it takes about two minutes and saves me so much more in depth cleaning time-it’s been worth it!! We renovated our bathroom 5 months ago (took out the tub and in a shower!), and I am bent on keeping it looking beautiful. Thank you for this video. I have a squeegee in our shower too! It has a hook on the end, so I hang it on the bar soap holder attached to the shower system. My mom kept telling me I had to dry the shower every time with a towel, so instead I got the squeegee. Less work with a squeegee, don't have to rub another load of laundry! Takes 30-45 seconds with the squeegee, and I get some squat exercises in!! I'll try your vinegar and dish soap recipe to clean any soap scum that sneaks in. Iike the idea of baking soda and dishsoap for my tile floor because it's glazed. What say you? Thanks in advance!

@@creuvette29 no, it can’t because the ph is so different. White vinegar has a ph of 2.4 (very acidic) and rubbing alcohol is neutral, somewhere between 6 and 8 (water is neutral at 7). Then consider that more than half the solution is water (neutral) and the Sal Suds is quite alkaline which will bring the final product into the alkaline territory, which is what (unsealed) grout likes. That's not to say you can't use ANYTHING abrasive on glass, just that you should test in a hidden area first to make absolutely certain it is not damaging it.

Every member of my family have to squidgee and paper towel the walls and squidgee only the floor after showering. This will prevent mould build up too. Soap scum still forms on the bottom of the glass over time so I use an Australian product called Mr Sheen for glass, wood surfaces etc. Leave it on for about half an hour then wipe down with a micro fibre cloth then rinse and squidgee. It’s perfect.

Hey! Engineering student here (I like a clean bathroom) - SO, idk if anyone has posted this already but, YOU DO NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SCRATCHING GLASS WITH BAKING SODA - the thing you want to know is called “Mohs Hardness”: glass has a hardness of around 5-7 and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) - and also hard plastic - have hardnesses of around 2.5 - since glass is harder, YOU WILL NOT SCRATCH YOUR GLASS WITH EITHER OF THEM - EVER!! Enjoy your nice clean bathrooms :)

None of what you recommended has worked. I live in a co-op unit that has seen goodness knows how many tenants and the bathroom tiles that were once white have a greyish cast to them. I’ve tried the dish soap with vinegar as well as the dishsoap with baking sod’s and literally nothing changed. I’ve tried using soft sponges and not at all soft scrub brushes. I have been able to scratch some off with my fingernails, but I can’t do the whole bathroom like this. What’s the next step ?

Soap dissolves grease and oil. Soap scum is none of those. The only thing that dishsoap does is create a thicker viscosity for the vinegar to adhere longer. Why people use soap to dissolve soap boggles my mind. If you have faucets that are encrusted with soap scum, saturate strips of paper towels and let sit on the bad areas for half an hour to an hour. The soap scum will come right off. I spray my shower walls with vinegar and then mix salt, baking soda, and a small amount of water to form a paste. Then I scrub it off in a circular motion and rinse. We squeegee our glass shower doors every day, which helps them stay clean and clear. But to deep clean the rest, I use the method above - no dish soap! Also, using shower gel is better than a soap bar for preventing soap scum.

One thing to keep in mind is that, once hard water stains have set in in glass doors, you wont be able to remove them completely as the minerals from the water fuse with the glass. So, better to prevent them by wiping with a towel after each shower.

this all sounds great but I just use my hand made bar soap and a scrub pad. Apply the barsoap to the wet pad and have at it, then rinse, works great. And yes use the squeegee after every shower, takes 10 seconds and I have a big shower (over 6'x3.5').

There you are, I hardly get notices of new videos anymore, miss you and your wonderful remedies. QUESTION: do you have a solution for dried hard on water spots on windshields and kitchen counter tops? I wipe my tiles constantly but if I miss some and it dries it leaves a circle line that won't come off. I have tried everything I can think of and no success. I would be soooooo grateful, yes, I have hard water. I live in Mexico we don't have glass showers, all tile. But we do have hard water issues with the tiling.

I hear you talking about the stronger strength vinegar can you use this on tiling too? I used regular vinegar didn't even touch it on my tiling, at all. Will higher strength eat the surface? I have a strong vinegar, but I think it is more than 10. My car windshields are a mess, I am sad. Just happened.

The problem with the squeegee is you need to do that right after showering with the water off, so you're standing there for a few minutes naked, and cold cleaning the glass. Honestly, I hate it, I sometimes do clean the glass that way, but it's a pain. I would love to have a walk in tiled shower enclosed, like you walk in turn the corner, and shower, no glass doors, but I can't afford the remodel.

I’m thinking about trying an automotive spray sealant called sonax spray and seal. If this works then no kind of buildup could ever cling to any of my shower again until the sealant wore off, which could probably take a very long time.

Dawn 4X dish soap and the scotch brite blue/white eraser works great as well. Dial soap and other bar soaps need to be cleaned at least every two weeks to maintain and not build up. If Dial bar soap has built up over the years, It will take a lot of soaking scrubbing to remove it, because it is like dry powdery wax when you scrape it off. I have found that spraying straight Pine-Sol brand, Pine-Sol, softens it. Sometimes you have to remove it and layers if it’s been on for years. Depending on the top shower, you have, cheap oven cleaner worked well. Test a spot first. I must be properly ventilated and use gloves, so it will not burn your hands and cause cancer.

I have a shower door, sliding on a chrome track and it's hard to clean the metal and clean the bottom part of the door where there is plastic where it's getting mildew and I can't get to that unless I use I guess a pipe cleaner? Also, I used vinegar to clean my shower and it discolored the chrome fixtures, so I no longer use the vinegar. Your example of a shower is easy to clean, can you use harder examples? Like mine I described.

Borax is antifungal - I mix up a teaspoon - TBSP in hot water (as Melissa suggests for laundry) - I'd try putting this solution in a spray bottle (it can mix with vinegar etc w/o worry!) And spritzing the area, let sit, then brush with an old toothbrush!

I had one just like that and it drove me crazy. Tiny fiberglass shower stall, and parts of the chrome door track got moldy and it was physically impossible to get to it with anything to clean it. Couldn't even squeeze a toothbrush in there. I finally took the whole thing off, filled the screw holes, and hung a shower curtain. I don't understand why doors like that are even manufactured.

I wander if applying ClearView automotive windscreen protectant to the shower glass would make a difference. It is designed to flow down water instead of beading and holding water drops. I think it is just alcohol based so perhaps just apply some rubbing alcohol once a week or so will suffice. Another thought .. standard car wax or those fancy ceramic liquid layers. The soap studs would have no chance of adhering to the glass to begin with 😎
