    Watching them all maneuvering while the vessel pitches and rolls made me a little home sick from my time in the Navy. The Bering Sea conditions were pretty rough and we'd literally be walking on one wall then the other, as far as 3 feet of the wall bottom and also running down hill then, straining up hill lol, it was so awesome

    Actually if you could please could you tell us anything interesting about your trip and anything us ignorants to that area would like to know.. I'm so interested, or message me I'm just really curious as to how it went and what really goes on there, so anything you care to share anything I don't care how long it is.     Everything about this was absolutely fascinating. It was heartbreaking that woman lost her husband during the expedition. The thimble-like styrofoam cups from the pressure were so cool! Such a roller coaster of a show. Marine Biologist are during some really awesome and vital work.

    I would of done the same thing. Her husband passed away doing what he loved to do . I don't think he would of wanted her to come back considering where she was. I'm sad for her YET grateful for her. My condolences to her and her family .

    If you're in the US I can recommend the University of Alaska - I worked as a volunteer there one summer while I was doing my marine bio undergrad in the UK. They were well equipped, had a really good and comprehensive set of course modules, great field stations, excellent teaching staff - and if polar ecology is your thing, then you're in the right place for it

    As an ex deckhand on trawlers,I know only too well what happens to the life on the bottom.Trawling kills everything within the net range,It drags everything along until it"s dead!I"m all for research,but hopefully one day they can design something way better.

    Glad someone first hand says it like it is and 'research' needs to eck off and leave natural ecosystems alone. They do not 'need' us to survive, they've done that for million of years

    @@JoanneSgrignoli yes I realise this,but they also said in that documentary that long line trawling nets trawl that same area certain times of the year,so that means that other people are already doing it.

    Does an international Antarctica treaty right... and there's a fleet of Japanese whaling ships they have in big letters on the side research vessel... they kill hundreds of whales in the Antarctic ocean... under the guise of research... and then openly sell the meat on the Japanese Market...

    Amazing voyage!!! Congratulations to all the team, specially for captain and for Julie Hall. No words to describe her commitment . Please make this research a contribution to preserving marine life and hopefully not to benefit the horrible greed and interests of businessmen who profit from under water minning and indiscriminate fishing industry.

    Nope, there's even a lonely planet on Antarctica. I was talking with a customer of mine in a bar, he lives down the street from me, got to taking about books, so we traded...he brought me a lonely planet.. and then was like, "I cheated... cus I'm one of the authors" he's a climatologistand goes every year.
