The Secret Victorian Language of Flowers
In the Victorian era, there were many restrictions when it came to social interaction. The language of flowers provided a more subtle and polite way to express how you truly feel.
Sorry if I sound a little off in this one, I'm just getting over being sick.
If you're interested in reading a floriography book from the 1800s you can find one here: archive.org/details/languageo...

I’m a 45 year old construction worker, welder and maintenance technician. I’ve been gardening since I was a child and I love this content! More please! Ever since I saw the movie “I heard the bells “ my passion for gardening and decorative note writing has caught fire again…. My wife appreciates it a lot too!

Same here..
Fun video :=) I think we need to bring the floriography back not only is it just a nice mental image but for those of us like me who have trouble expressing ourselves it could be a big help :=). Also sending someone a wilted bouquet is the most passive-aggressive thing I've heard :=)
I love the idea of handing someone a dead bouquet, making eye contact without a word, and then immediately walking away 😄
I've, recently, been quite interested in the Victorian Era, but I'd just like to say this video is so very intriguing!

Yellow roses have always been my favorites. Makes me sad that they have an unpleasant meaning.

There are multiple songs used. What is the timestamp of the one you're looking for?
I remember the skit from Horrible Histories about this. Still think that a cactus is a great option so show that you dislike someone :)

It seems like most flowers have different meanings depending on the book. 🤷♀ I've also heard about yellow roses for friendship. Maybe it's a more recent interpretation.
