Some people can still be food obsessed even when not restricting. It is all about an individual’s personality and one’s eating habit established over the years. So maybe there is just no way around it.

I agree concerning the eating habits established over the years, but they can definitely be unlearned!

This is fantastic! I was just asking myself why I'm obsessed with food. It's so true. I have restricted myself for years! I never saw how the two things were related. Thank you so much for this eye-opening video. 👀

Very helpful! Can I request a video about how to train yourself to eating smaller portions of food? A few years ago I moved to the US where the portions are double than the Greek. I fell for eating more and now I find myself having to eat a lot in order to feel full but I need to go back to how I used to eat. Help! 🥴😊

Such an important discourse. I really respect and admire the French approach to food education. Intuitive eating and a balanced view of foods allowing for foods that bring emotional comfort (but not being at the same time dependent on these foods as the sole way to manage emotional times) seems to indeed be the key for most people.

I obsess about food because my parents did. My dad grew up on a south Texas farm where food was the only entertainment. My mom was an emotional eater. So they served us too much (serving size for 6 foot tall farm boys) and modeled eating for the wrong reasons. My brother and I are struggling to get back to healthy weight range.

Omg south texas I grew up there too (RGV) and I agree with your sentiment !! Spot on portion sizes and quality is questionable at best!

@@vanessaalmazan953 My father’s idea of portion size is ridiculous. At Christmas he gave me a “little” box of chocolates-it was a pound of candy. I’m almost a foot shorter than him, a woman, and smaller frame than him, and my family is mystified why I’m 30 pounds heavier than my friends.

Hi Lucie! I think many people think they have a food obsession when they are only doing meal planning. Nothing wrong with that. The first thing I think of when I wake up is “what should I cook for my family for dinner tonite”?

Yes I get that, diet culture/anti diet culture have definitely skewed our vision of normal vs unhealthy eating behaviors!

What if you have a food intolerance? For example, I have gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance so I feel as though I am restricting foods that have gluten and dairy but it's because when I eat them I feel unwell so why do I still crave them? How do I stop craving these foods? I know I have to restrict them because they make me feel unwell, so is that why I crave them more?

  • @Edukalebylucie

This is tricky, but it's all about intention, about realizing that you aren't restricting food but rather focusing on the foods that make you fell good. There are also good food alternatives/immitations that can mimic the comforting aspect of gluten and dairy! Good luck!

@Edukale by Lucie Thank you for the great advice and recommendations! I do try to have gluten-free and vegan versions of things such as gluten-free bread and vegan cheese when possible, but it's harder to find gluten-free and dairy free options at restaurants so then I feel like I have no other choice but to have gluten and dairy in those instances. Then I overdo it because I know at home I don't have these things
