thank you for all this information. i just deleted my calorie counting app because i realized that i was once again fixating on every little thing i ate and i would look at the calories on literally everything. it was miserable and i cried yesterday because of it. i’m going to just try to eat more whole foods and vegetables and fruits and limit my takeout to lose weight sustainably.

@dreamysol Take out food - don't just limit it, eliminate it. Free yourself from these industrial-corporate bodies who don't care about your health: who don't use the best ingredients and don't prepare with care.

@@Edukalebyluciehello there Lucie, are you the wonderful helper who discussed the acronym, ‘STOP?’ I was listening to a KZreadr recently on Nutrition and they spoke about the word stop and I cannot find the video what was discussed is stop meaning, have space to think about whether or not you really are hungry. The tea is set a timer to make sure you’re hungry for example. 5 minute timer. The oh was to observe if you’re really hungry and I think the pee was for prayer. If this was you who spoke on this can you please explain more and possibly a link to that video underneath🎉❤.

Yes to building healthy habits. There definitely can be a “finish your plate” mentality in Ireland that doesn’t serve us in terms of how it goes against the grain of intuitive eating for the sake of seeming “socially appropriate”. We are however also very fortunate that we can access lots of fresh produce of good quality however like everywhere else, the cost of living has definitely impacted the average persons ability to access these.

So you actually think wasting food is a weight loss solution? Explain that logic. Typical trash. I'm thin and delicate and I never waste a single bit. I don't understand what I need to do, here. Break it down step by step to a grown adult how not to waste food? You're still a pig. Wether you over stuff yourself or toss food out which destroys and disrespects the environment on so many levels. I do neither, myself.

I've always liked to focus on being healthy instead of being thin. I don't own a scale, and I never will. This video really resonated with me, and I'm so glad that you made it clear and gave great examples so that it's easily applied. It really makes you think, and I love videos that do that. It's mindful eating instead of mindless eating and searching for that satisfaction. ❤️

Brilliant! I've fasted long to lose weight and it is effective but the point about learning the habits French people use to never get fat is key. I lived in Toulouse with a girlfriend and while I didn't pick up the habits necessarily I do remember how moderate they ate and it really is a habit based thing rather than some huge effort.

I went vegetarian about a year or so back for a month. I didn’t count my calories and I ate what I wanted so long it was vegetarian. I lost weight! When I didn’t fixate on my calories I felt so much better. Granted, I gained since then and I didn’t continue with vegetarianism but I remember feeling so much better

Ultra processed foods make you eat more calories. They did a study and the difference between the same foods available with equal calorie density and protein, fats and carbs but one week it was all home cooked with real ingredients and the next week it was all ultra processed. The processed group ate 500 calories a day more. Seems like the food in the US in particular is very artificial and makes us eat more. People often find when they go to a European or far east country they lose weight while eating what they like. Stomach problems also tend to get better. French people do go on diets though. The Dukan Diet was from France. But to slim down from an already healthy weight.

I am not a fan of take out. I love eating in a restaurant and take out ruins that! I do like it if I am going to have people over and don't have tine to cook. BUT, I would never serve fast food. It would be something that I couldn't make for a crowd like Greek, Lebanese or Mexican food.

In a traditional white middle class family this is perhaps true, though France, like everywhere else is now saturated by giant supermarkets, has a real health crisis amongst the working classes and also is very very multicultural. Saying the ´French’ way is a highly selective ideological position. Assuming this speaks for the whole of a nation is a little troubling. I understand that this appeals to Americans obsessed with their weight, and who believe that everyone’s experience in life must be the same as their own as a middle class white person, but I’m afraid this just isn’t the case. In my experience, while the produce is better in France -IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT (big secret-most people can’t)- especially amongst middle aged women, low lying EDs are absolutely endemic. A slightly more troubled picture than the one you’re selling. Though of course a versisimilar picture is not what you’re selling, I understand that this is a product.

What about the fitness aspect? How long do French people walk each week and exercise each week? For those who are in the USA who barely walk, due to the cars system! This health nutrition helps, but without the amount french people walks each week and exercise each week, this whole nutrition section is useless, because it is only one half of the solution to weight loss for us, Americans! The french walk, a lot, that is awesome! What is a lot, 1-2 hours or 30 minutes a day or a week? Clarity, please

Weight is 80% what you eat, 20% exercise! The "exercise culture" isn't as great in France as the US, but they are generally more active in every day life. Make sure that you walk around your block/yard/city/on a treadmill for at least 30 min every other day to try and replicate that! That's a segment I can add on the course if people are interested.

@@Edukalebylucie Please do! I needed to know that. Due to, if I only follow the dietary lifestyle part, I will not understand how the French lifestyle works. I am not in France or know the culture of everyday living in France, as the majority of your USA viewers, which is an assumption that they have not been to France before. I personally do not find comfort or enjoyment in exercise culture in the USA. It is helpful to teach people or find resources of information on how the French people are taught to exercise for their needs, that might have been taught in school or through a natural cultural experience that people learn through growing up in French culture. Right now, it feels to people residing in the USA, who have not been to France or have been to France, that the exercise situation and culture is as a big secret to be uncovered, as you did with nutrition here, on your channel

@@NoelleSamhi there, French here 🙋 there's actually no "big secret" concerning exercise, because things like fitness are not really part of our culture. Usually French people will eventually take part of a club of an activity they actually enjoy, but not even every French person do it. In elementary school we often have no sports at all, and then only 2-3 hours a week and everyone hates it. 😅 I personally watch US videos for fitness 😂

@@NoelleSam actually most of our cities are not made for cycling, so you won't see so many people doing it. Living in the city yes I would walk a lot. People also live a lot in the countryside, so we need to take the car to do anything, but we enjoy taking small walks or hiking in nature and gardening. In the cities people enjoy walking in parks a lot too. 🙂

actually having more of a monomeal/one thing only meal results in less eating...and more variety results in more normally right? someone will tend to get bored of the same thing quickly whereas more variety that appears, the more renewed interest. I think studies have shown this, but the way you're thinking about it is also interesting
