I wish I could buy fresh bread like that every day. If I want proper bread I have to make it myself. The idea of buying fresh, handmade bread just down the street is divine.

Fifty six (56) years ago, back in my tiny, under developed country, Guatemala, my 6th grade teacher, as a geography project , assigned the pupils to research and put together an album of different places fromm around the world. In a weekly illustrated newspaper suplement, I found a small black and white picture of Notre Dame Cathedral. In awe, as if I were hypnotize by a strange force, I kept staring at this small picture, and wished wholehearthedly one day I could see this Cathedral in person. forty four (44) years later, in 2012, my long-ti time dream came true. I will never forget the uncontrolable anticipation as I approached Notre Dame. When I arrived, I just stood outside, admiring its magnificent, ancient facad. An almost painful, ovewhelming emotion came all over me and tear drops felt down my cheeks. That was my only visit to Paris but I felt madly in love with this enchanting, absolutely beautiful and romantic city. I promised to myself before my time comes, I will go back to Paris, and I am sure I will cry again as I did forty four years ago as if I would be reunited with an old, dear friend with whom I made a secret date. A bien tot, Paris! Je t'adore! Thank you, Mr. Jones for sharing such a superb video.

I know tourtists are mostly interested by the center, but they are gems, that are way more authentic around the center, they have better bakeries, better wine shops, you get to see adorable little streets, you get more affordable excellent restaurants and it's not only populated by ritch people and luxury shops, it's great for people who care for another kind of history and charm, the legacy of the little people (and It's worth a ton of love) . If it were anywhere else people would fly to see it , but since it's PAris people miss out to focus on the most posh and grandiose areas. I'd like to see a documentary about this Paris because it's worth it. besides that the documentary was very good, although all we see in the center is commercialy tourist oriented and really lacks authenticity. (even the food is not that good unless you are ready to pay a tremendous amount of money)

One of the affordable eats in Paris is at the Louvre, free to enter but to see the exhibits you need to buy a pass, it's faster to go up Eiffel Tower if you join a tour you can buy online or at your hotel also, like day trips to see Monet's Giverny, etc and for North Americans who aren't used to paying to use the toilets in Europe, it's free in France and in Paris only one we got to pay by Lido Theater area where "guests were treated to some pampering. And to explore the subway ask for a day pass, saves money! Choose hotels with free breakfasts. Champs-Elysees is lined with public toilets free to use and where in Europe can you find that? And be wary, pickpockets here and all over Europe are very good, looked like tourists too! Faster to take a taxi than public transit, safer from pickpockets too, if traveling w/ friends, split the fare. And enjoy Paris! Don't forget to visit Versailles, the most beautiful garden in the world!

I liked the end of this with the gentleman who took him underground a gave him some wine, but I thought the skeletons were sad to see, it seems undignified for them to be left like that. Even though they are stacked, I think they should have their own individual place. They all had lives and loves and enjoyed certain pastimes, and now their striped shirts and berets have all fallen to bits. We don’t even know how many of them sold onions.

At 15:43. I can see why the Mexican football supporter extinguished the Fire of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe. The Mexicans are still smarting over that time Napoleon III and the French Army took over Mexico in the 1860s. They have, like, two metro stations named after the heroes who defended Mexico City against the invading French Army, and bunch of sites (including another Mexico City metro station) named after the Mexican president who kicked the French out. So when Brazil beat France in that World Cup, it was a bit of payback time for that Mexican supporter. LOL.

I know the facts ruin a good story but Paris was bombed because it was made clear the French would not fight for it, not because it was beautiful, and tourist visiting it today will be pleased that the old buildings were not damaged or destroyed, as am. But I am also please that the British took a pounding in the defence of London, and that our forbears would have rather seen our capital smashed to pieces than surrender to the corporal . God bless the Londoners.

The french would't fight for it...comming from a guy that live in an island...ever hear of the first world war when the french litteraly stopped the germans near Paris at a great cost in 1914 (at that time the British forces in france were extremely small), it's called the battle of the Marne. After Dunkirk in 1940 when the brits get to go home in their island, the french still fighted three weeks alone against the whole german army having lost half (the best trained and equiped part) of their army. They simply didn't have the number to man the front and put a lot of divisions to defend Paris at the time with London, the biggest urban zone in Europe counting the small banlieus and town nearby. If they have manned Paris the german only had to pass it and siege it without any disturbance, a great plan indeed...i'm sure people like you would be saying that the french concentrate their troops in Paris to surrender or something like this. At the time french cities were bombed, millions of refugees from belgium and France were on the road (at the time the greatest exodus in modern Europe) and the army only have least that half the divisions required to man the front...and 90000 french soldier died during this campaing, and a german author, Frieser (the blitzkrieg legend) one of the most compentent in the matter said that they inflected the most loses on the german army in June 1940, including hundreds of planes that couldn't be used later in the air battle over britain.
