Compare his grip with Kong Linghui. Deep grip, middle finger half-loose, small finger halfway up the handle, naturally a strongly backhand-favoring grip but by adjusting knuckles without regripping (merely straightening the first row of knuckles) the blade angle changes to be a medium forehand-favoring grip. This unique grip was the secret to Kong Linghui’s extremely balanced style and appears in some of what you have shown here. Credit Kong, I think. The two finger grip seen sometimes (for Alexis’ service) has history going back to the 1920’s world champion Victor Barna, in whose name paddles were sold in the 1940’s in the US, one of which my father had; these were shakehand hard bat paddles but with a short handle, appropriate for a deep grip with two fingers on the rubber. So when people tell you don’t use two fingers on the blade, or don’t use a deep grip, understand that advantages can be found with many ideas including perhaps even your own. At the same time the canon is very strong in table tennis, so listen to your coach, too.

Interesting note on the side: Timo Boll puts his index finger on the middle of the blade, when he receives with the forehand giving him a better angle for short balls.

Same, it's not very special to me. His index finger may be a bit more towards the centre of the bat, but that's about it. Watch videos on his brother Felix to see a more unique grip!

After the era of plastic balls, rubbers have become heavier. A deep grip could be more natural for junior players who are weak in handling heavy equipment.

Very relatable I'm over 190cm tall and I never struggle with power, however, I find it difficult to recover fast - meaning that I really need to be good on both sides. I really need to test deeper grip, because from what I've heard, there is no disadvantage for people like me... Correct me if I'm wrong :))

wrong. because most people keep playing Tenergys and other tensors made before the new rubbers "Pball ready" came out. heavier rubbers came on the market more to have something similar to chinese heavy rubbers like H3 and so on because it was a part of the market to get in for european brands. D09 D05, K1,2 and 3, Nitakky PK50, Joola Tango powersponge etc... and the new ABS ball is fantastic! i don't feel a damn difference between this ball and an old Nittaku 3*** cellulo. i still have some at home. rebound is so close, feel, weight, seemed ones of course. you can't tell the difference if i throw it in randomly during a game.

@@jiboo6850 That's lie. I have both at home and the difference is huge. The plastic ball is heavier, faster and is less sensitive to spin. Before I had a really good FH loop which had a different arc and much more spin and with the plastic ball it goes in a flat arc with less spin and it gets blocked super easy

​@@blueheart9873 lol you just have shit balls mate. mine are exactly the same in weight. 2.75g for the Nittaku cellulo 3*** and 2.74g for the ABS ball 3***. with a precision scale at 0.01g. they are barely harder and when i make them bounce at the same time on the table, they literally bounce for the same amount of time before it stops. many brands are shit. some are just fantastic. mine are made in the DHS manufacture. pros play with the same. do you really think that pros play with shit balls? dude... they play with the closest balls from cellulo. when you look at pros playing they still can spin a lot and make the opponent's racquet explode!! blocks out of the table because of spin. Xu Xin, Ma Long etc... didn't even change their FH rubbers to play with it. they still spin the ball hard.

Le point faible de ce genre de grip hormis la perte de puissance en cd, c’est la difficulté de démarrer des balles deux rebonds ou sur la table en cd, alors qu’avec une prise plus ouverte en cd, on peut démarrer des balles qui ne sortent pas de la talble.

special grip?! LOL, its not special, its what most of us do before we're trained to grip the bat more conventionally. the reason we're trained not to hold the bat like this is to have more continuity btwn fh and bh strokes. obviously hes a special talent, so he can make this grip work well and excel.

Who have all of this one day will become a table tennis player if any of them missing its not working anymore.

From the start need somebody who can teach and show what is table tennis the a few of player will find themself. Even if I will use that secret grip, that alone will not help me win games. This kid started early and with solid coaching from dad and mates. Apparently his grip is not the secret here.

I feel like the Lebrun brothers aren't fully OK mentally. I might be wrong but the way they overreact is kinda cringe. But that doesn't mean they aren frickin' great players :)) Congrats!

Overreacting...3 shouts in one shout at every point which Harimoto started a trend and which has become more common and even promoted by coaches etc...please let the ittf ban this by stronger rules...2 big shouts allowed every game for instance...so that the referee can say " Mister Harimoto has no shouts remaining"😅
