The Scratch-Built Mech Model Kits of Luca Zampriolo
Ғылым және технология
We're unabashed fans of original mech suit designs as well as garage kits, so we were thrilled to meet concept designer Luca Zampriolo at Comic-Con, who scratch builds scale model mechs and meticulously documents his build and paint process in published art books. He shares with us garage kits he's made of his mecha, which we can't wait to put together!

I've only found out about your work through this video. It's awesome that you created a book that shows and teaches about creating model kits. I still have not built a model kit but I just bought your book through amazon just because I love learning and creating tactile objects. But also, I'm sure I'll learn a thing or two that would help my profession which is 3d modeling for the game industry. I can't wait for the book to arrive at home. I'll show the book to my coworkers because I'm sure they'll love it. Awesome stuff Luca! :)
you can tell he was really nervous. What an amazing guy those mechs look so good!
You guys are great for featuring him I've been following Luca for years his art is amazing
Love this maker's work - so much skill.
Finally :). Kallamity for the masses. He deserves it.
Holy MOLY!!! That is sooo good! The details!!
every mecha lover should love this man too...
I pre-ordered Abakan many many years ago and was not disappointed when it finally arrived. This guy has been such an inspiration to me and his book is a must have for any aspiring sculptor or creative thinker..
It's been awhile Luca, so nice to see you still building and doing well!!
those models look really lovely. so much detail. very cool. thanks, Tested, for showing Luca's models :)
Luca is incredible! Love his style and skill, and the studio he built is rad!
wow those Mechs are beautiful!
Man, I really dig this gentleman's designs!! Amazing stuff, and it doesn't hurt that I'm in love with 'Mechs
Wow! That's inspiring! He started by building models. So cool!
Fantastic work! Your attention to detail and passion for the hobby really shows.
Damn what a really cool guy. You can tell how thankful he really is to be there👍🏼
This is so amazing. This guy is great, I need to follow him on social media.
the european modelers have a unique, amazing approach - dude is crazy talented
Im subscribed to this guy in KZread for quite some time now and seeing him on tested is sooooo coool!!
that level of creativity is so impressive!
Got few of his books.... a m a z i n g work. Grande Luca!
I absolutely love this mans work.
What an inspirational bloke. I liked him immediately. When he said Bladerunner was his favourite, I loved him.
I bought one of his mechs over at Lucca comics. They are really nice kits!
Wow, amazing work!
His hands are shaking so badly, must be nervous as hell. And I can definitely see Gundam and Zaku inspiration in his mecha design and the dioramas are straight out of Gunpla competition complete with the little people. I think I'll go buy his book, and if he sells it with the model kit as a bundle, then I'll get it too.
I own all of his books. They are so worth getting if you can.
this guy nailed every model builders dream
Get him on Tested please!!
just bought your book you do great work
Def interested in that book.. nice work. - Eddy
What an awesome guys! :D
Nice, love the fact they are original
This is amazing works
wow that book is gorgeous, the design, photos, printing, really nice work. of course the mechs aren't bad either ;)
Luca Zampriolo is BEST of BEST!
Grab a bag of mech parts and run, Norm! Run like the wind!
So cool!
I would love to send artists like him to MIT. The actual robotics people work on are so devoid of any aesthetic, it takes an artist to really make it worthwhile
great dude, great products!
Sold Immediatly bought the HardCover....can't wait :)
These are awesome! Might buy one in the near future! :D
Incredibly talented and very grateful, seems like an awesome dude, love that missile launcher mech
this guy is a genius. Norm - get him on a tested build video!
His voice reminds me of the Daft Punk tune Giorgio by Moroder. "Wait a second... I know mech designs - why don't I use the mech designs which is the design of the future?" My name is Luca Giorgio. But everybody calls me Giorgio... Drum beats
I started on Gunpla too, that guy is chill af
Have his one book, it's pretty cool
I need to buy one of his kits.
Please add a link to Luca's channel in your description. His build and painting videos are amazing.
I used to build models and stuff but felt constrained by my own skills and by the models rigid design and lack of modification. This is the type of thing I'd have loved as a whipper snapper although I did love playing with Technics LEGO and making all sorts of twisted mech robots with 1.5v motors and lights put on them. Hell, I still like playing with LEGO today with my daughter!

Kyle Futter I think he was insecure about his English...he did great, though. I felt bad as well.

Kyle Futter I imagine that it may also be because he's speaking for an extended period of time, in front of a camera in English, which, judging by the accent, isn't his native tongue.

Zampriolo did a workshop some years ago in Italy, during the Lucca Comicon and yes, the he's pretty nervous(it was in italian, so I don't think it's an insecurity with the language). But he's really good at his job(he showed us how he builds the models, the materials he uses and how he paints them, it was really cool), and he's a nice guy, so it was a a good experience :D

Luca Z! Finally some fame and credit!
Those tecnics would be sooooo gooood on gunpla building
Very cool :)
they're not very big, so for him to get that level of detail by hand... impressive
Pongo uses "plastilina" very close in structure as Play-Doh " Play-Doh is based on flour, salt and water" but it seems pongo won't dry like Play-Doh so you can reuse it multiple times.
@najkraemer3117

he only used that as a kid. He doesnt use fucking playdoh/pongo to sculp these mechs anymore XD

impressive...
Viva l'Italia!
What a great video, and the kits are amazing! Is that book an amazon? Btw, English was great, spoken better than most of the people where I live!!

GRANDE "Luca" .......facci ONORE di essere ITALIANO .👍👍👍👍
Normgasm!
I remmeber people giving norm alot of shit, but I like the dude- he is a polite well rounded dude
I wish Mechs took off more than transformers. Mechs are vicious rat rods. Hollywood always has to putz it up and make love stories or cheese humor.
かっこいい!欲しい!どこで買える⁇
Heavily influenced by industrialized mech design. Armored Core anyone?
