    The warmer poles has already altered the jet stream making them slower and waver. So if a region gets hit by a heatdome, the slower jet stream meant that the heatdome moves more slowly.

    Thanks for explaining. I'm in the middle of the Sept 2022 northern California heat dome right now watching this video. It is disgustingly hot right now. It was about 114 degrees here yesterday.

    It seems to me that evaporation off the tropical ocean must be a significant heat contributor to these heat domes but I'm always keen for somebody to dispute that with thermodynamics, atmospheric physics.
