i was joking with my op, think of what most people think of when they hear the word meme, e.g. pepe the frog, pictures with captions meant to be funny, etc. now watch the video again. she says meme a lot. when i watched the video i couldn't get the common meaning out of my head even after she clarified that she was talking about good ideas and their propagation, and how humans are exceptional at learning behaviors through observation, so i kept picturing scientists studying internet memes, not why and how they are used in social contexts or the means and rate at which they spread, but analyzing the memes themselves. i pictured people in lab coats browsing sites like 4chan, to look for memes, and putting memes on dry erase boards with equations wrote out next to them, trying to use math to explain them.
