just to make life easier for everyone here is the recipe: Ingredients - 1 cup butter - 1 cup brown suger - ½ cup granulated sugar/ white sugar - 2 eggs - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract - 2 and a ¼ cups of all purpose flour - ½ teaspoon baking soda - 1 teaspoon coarse salt - 2 cups chocolate chips Method 1. Preheat oven to 160 degrees (fan forced) or 180 degrees (conventional oven) (THIS IS IN CELCIUS) 2. Put butter, brown sugar and white sugar in electric mixer and cream them together. 3. After they have creamed put eggs in one at a time, then put the vanilla extract. 4. After it is all mixed stop the mixer. In a separate bowl put the flour in it and add in the baking soda and salt, whisk them very well. 5. Add the dry ingredients into the mixer and mix them on slow speed until just combined, then add the chocolate chips and mix until just combined (don’t go any further or it’ll toughen the cookie 6. Baking tray with baking paper and get about a tablespoon of cookie dough and put on the tray and have each two inches apart. 7. Bake until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week. ur welcome :)

I never knew that baking soda "spreads" and baking powder "puffs" (neeewb!). I just thought that both makes baked goods puff up. Interesting and good to know! No wonder my cookies are always puffy and not spreading much. I use baking powder predominantly. GREAT GREAT INFORMATION!!

This is one of the best chefs out there. He is concise and precise. And he occasionally comes up with fun statements like "Soda Spreads; Powder Puffs." :) I think the main reason is that baking soda does not leaven aggressively like powder. So it tends to spread out more during baking.

The dough is pretty strange and sticky I was scared at first (and its also my first time baking) I put it into the fridge to make it not that stick (it still sticks a lot tho) but after I baked it, it came out great! Remember to cool it after you baked it, because the cooling helps alot. So if youre scared its not going to work, your wrong just try it. It really works :)

You can use other alterations to achieve these differences, as in substitute margarine or shortening for some of the butter, or use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour, or chill the dough more or flatten them with your hand before baking.

Stick with the chewy cookie recipe, increase the size of the cookie and adjust the baking temperature and time accordingly. The outside will brown first and the center would be less "cooked", thus leaving crispy edge and chewy center.

My cookies don’t always turn out the same. Sometimes they are perfect- crispy outside, soft and chewy inside, and sometimes they aren’t as good, not spreading as they should. Now, I always chill the dough, but not always for the same amount of time. Sometimes I freeze the dough balls, too.
