Travelling along the The Savannah Way in Queensland while living full time off grid in our off road caravan.
Our second week on the road we had to wait for our inverter but as soon as it arrived we hit the road following the Savannah Way from Atherton to Karumba.
We explored the towns along the way, finding fossils, gemstones and history.
As the heat reached nearly 40°c we needed to find water quick to cool off. With the local swimming pool not opening as per the signed times we found Lake Belmore in Croydon, it was a welcome relief to splash in the water and play in the sprinklers.
We questioned if we were making a mistake heading to the outback in October but after checking the weather forecast decided to keep to the plan and go to Karumba.
So glad we did what a beautiful seaside town and with the sea breeze the temperature didn’t feel so bad.
We picked the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan park due to location and the swimming pool / playground.
I love myself a sunset but I must say there is something truly incredible when it sets into the ocean.
As we set off south a wrong road sends us on a dirt station track, a busted water pipe and engine light what more could go wrong…
