The old German Street Food Culture consists of Traditional German Street Food Stalls straight out of Sausage Heaven with lots of Sausage, even more Sausage, a lot more Sausage, and then come the Meatballs, Schnitzels, Meat Skewers and the Main Star in Berlin - The Currywurst - of this “Street Food in Berlin” Episode, which we would like to introduce to you with a real Original and Berlin Veteran.
There are many delicious Curry Sausages in Berlin, many of which the unofficial Sausage ambassador of Berlin - Reina Lehmann - has been supplying with his fresh Sausages from his Butcher Shop for decades. But you can only get the only real Original with its delicious Sauces at the Curry Baude at the Gesundbrunnen Center. [2] Homemade Sauce
Many of the Currywurst Stalls in Berlin have their own Secret Recipe for making their Currywurst Sauce. But one of the reasons why it tastes so good here directly at the master's is because the secret Curry Sauce is perfectly matched to the Sausage. But of course the exact Recipe will never be revealed.
[3] Bratwurst with Intestines
[4] German Sushi - Minced Pork with Onions
“Mett”, “Hackepeter” or “Thüringer Mett”, is twisted or chopped seasoned pork that is eaten raw as a spread.
[5] Boulettes - Berlin Meatballs
[6] All Meat Products come from his own Butcher Shop
[7] Pork Schnitzel
[8] Bratwurst without Intestines
After the Second World War, there was a shortage of animal intestines and is said to have led to the skin being simply left out.
[9] Currywurst - Traditional Berlin Street Food Dish
History of origin: It was in 1949 in West Berlin's Charlottenburg where, on a rainy September evening, the Snack Bar owner Herta Heuwer is said to have mixed the first Sauce of its kind made from Curry Powder, Tomato Paste and Worcestershire Sauce.

Wow i couldn't stop salivating 😋, I remembered what i was told last week and put on the subtitles 😊, this butcher really knows how to make and cook delicious kinds of foods, ive been a butcher now for nearly 40 year's in the UK and i can understand his passion for food, as like myself i enjoy cooking for guests but more importantly hopefully watching them enjoy it and that makes me happy 😊, yet another brilliant vlog from these guys and it makes my Sunday morning's so much brighter, recpect to the great butcher and cook 👏👏👏👏👏😋😋🇬🇧🙏🙏

A backery or a butcher or fishmonger can't become a bank or other. Must stay a food affair. In second, please stop eating in this Junk Food Pump, prefer ever your neighboor 's shop excellence. Bises.

I miss the good old schnell imbiss's of Germany. I was stationed in Germany as a British soldier back in the mid 80's to the mid 90's, I've spent a small fortune in those places, the food was always top notch, in fact, the whole country was top notch!

Richtig, leider werden solche Läden mehr & mehr durch die Gammelfleisch Buden verdrängt 🤬 Muss mal wieder in den ekelBezirk um mir ne Currywurst zu gönnen. Hut ab das sich der Laden bis heute gehalten hat - kenne den schon ewig.

@@mickymaus.1 Ich komme da schon seit Jahren nicht mehr vorbei. Früher habe ich da immer mal einen Stop nach der Arbeit auf den Weg nach Hause eingelegt. Da ich zum Glück in diesem Bezirk nicht wohnen muss und mittlerweile auch woanders arbeite, komme ich da leider nicht mehr vorbei! Dort extra hinzufahren für eine Currywurst, auch wenn sie gut ist, fehlt mir leider die Zeit! Ansonsten zieht mich nichts in diese abgefuckte Gegend!
Tolles Format, nicht reinquatschen, sondern die Menschen einfach machen lassen, gefällt!

I have to agree ,i live in Australia since 1996 and i miss the Food,Hamburg and the Alps the most,also i have not eaten a Tomato here in OZ that taste like one,so i miss real Tomatoes,unedible over here unless homegrown

👍Toll dass es das noch gibt! Als ich jung war gab es in Essen (und ganz NRW) an jeder Ecke so eine "Pommes-Bude" mit lecker Currywurst❤Jetzt ist es schwer eine zu finden weil es überall nur Döner und Co. gibt 😢 Nix gegen Döner, aber mir fehlt die Currywurst 😭Ihr Berliner könnt euch glücklich schätzen dass ihr so eine tolle "BAUDE" habt!

Solche Reportagen oder Dokus mag ich am liebsten. Die die einfach den alltäglichen Trubel aufnehmen ohne krasse Hintergrundmusik und Schnitte. Mit dem Originalton wie es dort eben ist.
Even if you didn't have subtitles you can tell he has a passion for what he does.

So schön dass Rainer immer noch da ist. Ich habe diese Doku von 2006 wo er im Fernsehen war bestimmt 50 mal geguckt. Endlich ein Lebenszeichen. Ich hoffe ich schaffe es nochmal an den imbiss am Gesundbrunnen solange alles so ist wie es ist ❤❤

Hach, da war ich heute und gestern wieder frühstücken und bin im Video auch zu sehen, natürlich beim essen.
Gesundbrunnen im Bezirk Wedding man freut mich das zu sehen. Bin dort in der Nähe aufgewachsen. Der Besitzer ist echt sympathischer Mensch. Wünsch euch ein langes und gesundes Leben. 👏👏👍

Das mit dem Hamburg-Trip finde ich super. Was die Currywurst angeht gibt es hier den Mö-Grill (direkt U-Bahn Mönckebergstraße). Ich esse dort sehr gerne die Krakauer als Curry - superlecker. Ansonsten gibt´s in Hamburg sehr viel Kulinarisches zu entdecken. Thema Fisch: Die Fischbratküche Daniel Wischer (schon rund 100 Jahre) machen unter Anderem auch die leckersten Fischbrötchen. Sehr schoenes Video. Die Curry-Baude kenne ich sogar ganz gut. Habe dort schon oft eine Currywurst mit Pommes gegessen. Schmeckt suuuperlecker dort in der Baude. So und nicht anders muss Currywurst sein!!

Wie er sich verändert hat... 😮 Kenne ihn aus den älteren Dokus bei KZread, da sah er echt älter aus als heute. Ein paar Kilo zugenommen (steht ihm gut), Schnauzbart weg, und beim Haupthaar etwas nachgeholfen 😄 Respekt für diese optische Wandlung!
Can't imagine I'll ever be in Berlin, but if I go, this will be the first place I will look up. But then the next problem would be choosing what to have. Those meatballs look incredible, but so do the sausages, and the sauce - you just know that tastes amazing. Extra spicy for me please! Also, that place is so impeccably clean - great work.

Was in Berlin 1968-1970 ...it looks the same today as then ... I used to go to the Berlin Philharmonic ... and it was crazy seeing men in tux eating Berlin Curry Wurst with their fingers and licking their lips.

I was never so hungry in my life as I was after watching this video! It was amazing to see Herr Lehmann take such tender loving care with every single bite. The next time I visit my nephews in Berlin, Curry Baude will be the first place I visit. I may even stop there on my way into town from the airport BEFORE I arrive at my nephews' apartment and pick up dinner for the three of us. And I will want the House Sauce on everything! Du sagst es. Er hat zumindest den Vorteil, dass er Fleischerei-Produktelieferant & Imbissbudenbesitzer zugeich ist - sonst wäre das niemals möglich. Gewinnmaximierung spielt aber bei Reina definitiv keine Rolle. Er hat uns gesagt, es sei ihm wichtig, dass sich die Erna mit ihrer kleinen Rente sich auch noch die Currywurst mit Pommes leisten kann. @@moodifoodiberlin hey, danke für das feedback. klingt alles sehr sympathisch, werd auf jeden fall mal vorbeischauen, wenn ich wieder in wedding bin. btw: hab mir schon mehrere deiner videos angeschaut und die sind visuell alle top. vor allem aber kein aufgesetztes und unnötiges gelaber, wie bei vielen anderen. in diesem sinne, abo knopf ist gedrückt.. viel erfolg weiterhin👍

I was stationed in Berlin in the American forces during the Cold War, which was over 50 years ago and I still miss the great foods there, on Saturday mornings we had the little paper holders for currywurst all over the place to clean up, had a great little german shack just outside the barracks. At times a few of us would get together and hit a nice restaurant and have Wienerschnitzel, Rouladen, and the best Bratwurst ever, so wonderful.

What you said about our BRATWURST, I miss my best FISH AND CHIPS ever , which we bought in ALDEBURGH/ SUFFOLK UK. We lived about 7 miles from the town in the country side. Even people from LONDON drove down for fish and chips. ❤🇩🇪❤

Ich hab mal vor Jahren hier auf YT ne' Doku über Reina und seine Curry Baude am S-Bahnhof Gesundbrunnen gesehen und ist danach wieder in Vergessenheit geraten - bis gerade eben als ich das Video gesehen habe.Sieht verdammt lecker aus! Hab's bei mir auf Google Maps gepinnt und bei meinem nächsten Berlin Besuch wird der Laden abgecheckt! 😁

Curry Baude ist für mich: Kindheit, Heimat und Erinnerung an so viele leckere Momente. Wenn ich in Berlin bin, dann ist die Curry Baude mein Anlaufpunkt. ❤

Its not sausage made with intestines but with a casing made of intestines. Then there is the variant without said casing called ohne Darm (without intestine). Those are generally softer and slightly more oily, whereas the one with casing is more crispy. The sausage without casing is more typical for east berlin, because the casings were exported so they had to come up with a way to save the intestines, which they did by letting the sausage drop in boiling water, so that it keeps its shape.
