The Salty Trainspotter’s Quarter Peal Day (March 2023)

We started this day off at St. Luke’s church, Bromley Common. They are a decent 15cwt Taylor ring in the key of F.
We attempted a quarter peal of Grandsire Triples twice and we failed twice. However we did make use of the rest of the time we had and rang some other methods.
The second tower was St. Mary the Virgin, Hayes (Kent not Middlesex.) They are a sweet little six but extremely oddstruck. The tower is also very small so it can be very claustrophobic at times. The draught is very long but that surprisingly isn’t an issue and the bells don’t feel too flighty or springy.
Here we rang a successful quarter of Grandsire doubles followed by a touch of Bob Doubles where I called the first bob too late which you may have noticed.
Our final stop was St. Mary’s, Addington where there is a gorgeous light six but are also pretty oddstruck.
We rang another successful quarter, this time of Plain Bob Minor.
