The Sad, Strange Ending to 6Teen You’ve Never Seen

6Teen was one of my favorite shows growing up, but I'll never forget watching the final episode, and not even knowing it was the final episode until the episode was ending.

either twenty six or like, 9teen or something. for 8teen/9teen to work they’d probably need to add 2 or 3 new characters to the group but if they ever had a revival like clone high but like, not ass, it would be pretty cool idk

I feel like Nicki was more grunge/alternative than goth. The goths in the show were more to the archetype. Also I grew up with this as a Canadian so got all the episodes and I knew this was the last one the first time I saw it. I think they advertised it that way on Teletoon. Out of all the shows my brother and I watched as kids, this is probably the one we watched the most together on purpose.

6Teen was definitely one of the best shows that aired on CN back in the day. While Total Drama fell out of favor fast with how bad it gotten, 6Teen stayed consistent and pretty on track for what it wanted to be. It had a lot of fun moments and really made it feel like being 16 was going to be an amazing thing. Sadly when I was 16, that wasn't the case, but oh well. It really was a comfort show. It also handled relationships and connections and all the teen drama really well. Though I can't forgive them for breaking up Jude and Starr thou. I know what they were going for with Starr, but man, her last appearance really made me upset.

6teen was on Netflix like years ago which is how I was introduced to the show, me and my brother watched as preteens and absolutely loved it. Now I’m in my early twenties and all my buds from high school I don’t even talk to anymore…but I can say watching that show is one of the reasons at 16 I put myself out there at school and work and had fun, nothing exactly like the show but definitely my own spinoff.

I discovered this show when I was in my early to mid 20s after I made a comic years prior that was kind of similar to it in theme. I'm Canadian and now live in Toronto. I've actually met a few of the voice actors you've mentioned and some of the creators of the show at comic conventions. I also heard the mall was inspired by the Eaton's centre in Toronto. It has a large fountain similar to the one in the show. Also, apparently, there were a few writers that would watch teens and youths in that mall to study them for show plots. I read that somewhere but have never asked how true those last facts are. Great video! I rarely see anyone talking about this series and it was a fun show, even though I was hoping for a more satisfying ending, but you can't please everyone. 🤷‍♀️

@Colby2D Yeah, there are some shows that ended that I've disliked at first, but eventually, I grew to like them. I think it's just human nature to hate watching something you love end, especially if you're not ready for it or had a different ending in mind. At least we can rewatch it if we're not ready to accept the ending.

I'm American and I remember watching this on Cartoon Network. I was about 12-13 at the time. I thought it was cool, then it just stopped coming on TV randomly. One day, I found a playlist on KZread where someone uploaded the entire series and I was hooked. Nikki was my favorite so I was hoping for another season where she came back, or maybe a spin off where they were all in college. As I got older, I realized that it ended perfectly. Sometimes we don't get the happy ending. That's just life.

Even now I remember Jude going Goth to win back his ex or Wyatt playing the guitar. They were fun to watch and you can feel the friendship, their dynamics and overall bond between them. I think it's rather clever to have the final episode be Nikki's choice instead of the typical "everything returns to normal" these types of episodes had. Not only does it end the show, both literally and figurately since no six teens, but really shows the maturity of Nikki for going to a new environment for the sake of her parents.

12:12 that Mario Kart DS music just gave me a whole new wave of 2000's nostalgia on top of 6Teen... This show made me realize just how bummed out and scared I am over getting older, my youth slowly drifting away. I feel like an alien to myself.

@@Colby2D ohh I see it’s a little past my time for cartoons then. I’m 28 now. I grew out of cartoons extra fast though, because I work in the film industry. Anyways, I’ve always preferred live action media over animation, probably why I fell into the film industry in the first place, but I was making KZread videos and trying to be a filmmaker in the late 2000s. When I was a teen lol

I remember watching 6teen as a kid and actually going to the Playland/PNE in Vancouver for the Stoked "tour" when they first announced the show as being by the creators of 6teen. It felt like a sitcom that happened to be made for kids (in Canada) than every other kids TV show at the time What an iconic show
