    ​@@innocentdumisani5232 no not so. It was a land of different tribal and ethnic confederates or kingdoms if you may. Ashanti was one formidable one. There were the Akwamu,Denkyira,Gonja,Mamprusi and all these other kingdoms. The colonialists named it Gold Coast for obvious reasons. Post colonial reformers adopted the name Ghana after the Ghana Empire in antiquity. So not everyone in Ghana is Ashanti. Not now not then. Hope this helps.
