In the years before the Oct 7th raid, Hamas was fighting alongside the 'moderate rebels' in Syria against Assad. Hamas going in and out of Gaza, getting equipment and combat experience didn't happen without the knowledge, if not blessing of Israeli and US intel agencies. So what happened? Did they have a deal with Israel that went sour as Assad proved resilient, like Hamas help Israel annex a bit swath of southern Syria, and Israel aids Hamas in some manner in return?

In terms of long-term grievances, Israel has done a lot more to them than Hamas in Syria, so that's probably a factor too. There's an article "Hamas and Hezbollah: From rivals in Syria to allies against Israel" from L'orient Today that explores just this topic.

Firstly the majority of eastern Ukraine identifies as Russian and the only reason Ukraine doesn't give it up is because it weakens western hegemony. Secondly the KMT already lost the civil war in 1949 and ran away to Taiwan to avoid admitting it. To deny that is denying reality and the inevitability that Taiwan reunites with China.

Taiwan's existence apart from China is deliberately propped up by the US to pry away any means for China to legally gain access to the Pacific (that can't be blocked by any navy). The fact that you see no parallels between what the US is doing now and Britain's deliberate partition of India to keep it as weak as possible shocks me. Both engage in colonial actions, and while China absorbing a (now quasi-separate) people isn't great, there's no indication they want to go any further. Whereas the US has had perfect geography for over 100 years and still messes with countries halfway across the world. Take it as the lesser of two evils.

I don’t disagree with your assessment here but WTF? Did you really think their position would be different? I’ll put it to you this way. If Palestinian Americans had the EXACT same power in America as Jewish Americans and Jewish Americans had the same power as Palestinian Americans “none” you would see the entire government and their bureaucratic managerial staff groveling in the opposite direction and that includes Chapo Trap House and the “progressive” influencer sphere.
